    2025 Spring Training Thread

Tanner Bibee just signed an extension with the Guardians that could turn into two extra years of control. This is probably a rough idea of what a Schwellenbach extension looks like next offseason. Tanner Bibee contract details, per source: $2M signing bonus $3M in 2025, $4M in 2026, $7M in...

Very interesting. Could it be because he knew he was only going three innings no matter what? I’m intrigued either way, definitely seems more interesting than Anderson.

I thought this was the case but looked it up before I posted. Prospects have to be top 100 in two of Baseball America, ESPN and MLB Pipeline. AJSS isn’t.

Obviously not likely, but one benefit of Baldwin being on the roster to start the season is we get a pick after the first round if he has a monster season and wins Rookie of the Year.

Official announcement says we signed Verdugo and optioned him to Triple A. https://x.com/Braves/status/1902784881957933372

Forgot he has options, maybe he's going to Gwinnett.

So now we have three awful outfielders instead of two.

It's a major league deal, too. Maybe the last year has jaded me too much, but can we get a wellness check on Acuña just to be safe?

...we just signed Verdugo for $1.5 million. Why?

I really don’t understand the Perdomo deal. Bowman has been saying they could put him on the IL to extend his TJ recovery for a couple weeks into the season. His velo was also going up as spring went on. Why not just IL him and keep him instead of giving him away for nothing? Just seems weird...

Fuentes’ velo readings lined up pretty well with a guy who was there with a radar gun: https://x.com/chriscleggmilb/status/1901411929978966277?s=46&t=t7xpFDjlFYkGV6nUElb0dA

Hard not to be excited by those performances on the mound. Biggest thing for Ritchie today was velo being back to pre-surgery instead of the 90-92 he was last year. And he definitely passed that test. Fuentes looks like the real deal. Hope he can keep developing this season, that was extremely...

Ian Anderson keeps striking nobody out, walking more than he should and ... getting people out. I've never felt worse about a guy who isn't giving up many runs in spring.

Cam Caminiti already has forearm tendinitis: https://atlbravescountry.com/major-update-on-braves-top-prospect-after-injury-concerns/. The high schoolers we draft usually wait until they start their first season with us before needing TJ. Looks like he's trying to get a jump on them.

Worth noting the Pirates lineup is awful. Only one projected starter in it - Nick Gonzales. But AJSS dominated them.

Really impressive two innings for AJSS with 3 K/0 BB. Up to 98, got whiffs on the changeup and slider too. Two bloop hits, nothing hit hard the entire outing.

    Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Smith-Shawver is our only other prospect in their top 100, he's #40. Smith-Shawver has big long-term ceiling. He hasn’t focused on baseball for very long and still reached Atlanta at age 20-21 amid injuries and changes to his repertoire. Once his mechanics click, look out. A two-sport Texas...

    Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Baldwin #11 on the Fangraphs top 100. Baldwin is a stocky, physical catcher with impressive opposite field power and feel to hit. He projects as an above-average regular. Baldwin signed for just south of $650,000 as the Braves’ third rounder in 2022. He slashed .318/.426/.549 throughout his...
