2025 Spring Training Thread

Hard not to be excited by those performances on the mound. Biggest thing for Ritchie today was velo being back to pre-surgery instead of the 90-92 he was last year. And he definitely passed that test.

Fuentes looks like the real deal. Hope he can keep developing this season, that was extremely fun today.

Baumann outing looks awful, but he touched 100 and clearly has made a big velo jump from last season. Obviously control was a huge issue today, but his control was great in Augusta all year last, so I’m hoping he’s just adjusting to the new velo level.

Lot of fun arms to follow this spring. As far as the bats, umm, there are a lot of fun arms to follow.

Chris Clegg also said he saw SS John Gil today and reported that he is “much larger and stronger” than last year - may be another helium guy this year if he has a jump in performance.

His defense has regressed significantly since he was called up. His bat has always been anemic. I feel pretty confident he won't be hitting .400 in the regular season.

If you basing that purely off defensive metrics, you are being a bit unfair. And you totally disregard both DRS and UZR which show Allen as a good defensive SS.

From the eye test, Allen looks the part of a good defender.

It came in at 99 but doesn't that FB look like there's not much movement? Perhaps it has rise?

Who's FB? If you're talking Didier, he does pitch up in the zone with it and it does have movement, but the draw of his 4 seamer is it's late life which makes a mid -90's FB play up.

The infatuation with him is youth, secondary pitch improvement and command (which is a thing with a few of the higher rated Braves prospects). Ritchie is an easy guy to peg as the next thing and Lara may have better overall stuff, but I like Fuentes a lot.
