I think the answer is likely yes. You'll definitely see fastball velocity go down a tick or two- the type of max effort throwing we've seen will become harder to sustain, which ultimately is going to be useful for batters putting the ball in play more. This article is from 2017, so I imagine...

Here comes sunshine : spring training game 1

I thought about this- and I wonder if they'll solve for this issue at some point- but I don't think that makes sense as the solution. Would be like saying the play clock should be eliminated at the end of football games or the shot clock should no longer exist at the end of an important...

Brandon Gaudin new play by play guy per reports.

100% this. Listening to guys like Chip and Smoltz is so irritating. I'm watching a game that I love called by people who are constantly trying to tell me how much the game sucks. Gaudin seems like he loves baseball, which should be a dramatic improvement.

There are still lines to not cross when someone says they like it rough. If I tell you I really enjoy violence- its my favorite thing in the world it gets my adrenaline going and it gets me off- you're still going to prison if you stab me in the ribs and kill me. But agree with your final...

I think you can safely assume that if a woman tells you they want to be choked, they want their ass slapped, etc. as she did in her texts, she isn't asking to be punched in the face or to have you stick it in a different hole. I'm willing to bet that a whole lot of very wealthy people have...

Watching The Braves This Coming Season

I can't say I've ever had an issue with MLBtv. I've been using it for probably 15 years now? I get blacked out of games when we play the Nats and sometimes wind up blacked out when I'm traveling, but I just use a vpn and its all good.

Even if you don't think Bauer's behavior in the one particular incident was reprehensible, I'm not sure he'd be a fit for the Braves. The recent Q&A with AA sheds some light on how much they value character in the clubhouse, and I think that's something we've seen pay off quite a bit in recent...

Is this meant to suggest that Murphy isn't a large upgrade according to advance stats? Murphy is solidly better in every category (xBA, xSLG, xWOBA, hardhit%, barrel%, pop time, etc.). He's also six years younger and has a much better chance of maintaining that performance this year than d'Arnaud.

Drury has played in 645 big league games, with 11 appearances at shortstop. I don't think he is the answer- particularly if our concern is Grissom's glove.

Homie is going to get a $200+m contract to play somewhere else, and he's going to decide that is more important than playing in Georgia. I don't think he needs our sympathy.

I hate doing the classic Chip "its like making a trade without making a trade!" but important to remember... Braves are getting a full season of Harris, full season of Strider as a starter, full season of Albies, full season (of healthier) Acuna, full season of Pina- none of which we had last...

When you have that much money, not everything you do has to make financial sense. Have to remember that a $400m payroll is something like 4% of Cohen's personal net worth.

I guess this is just a cyclical thing? Contracts go nuts and maybe the wealthy teams win a few World Series. Then a few of the nuts contracts become absolute disasters, a smart GM wins a World Series or two, and the trend goes towards more conservative contracts. Repeat. Then a team starts...

Any deal for Nimmo has to include a clause that he will stop sprinting to first base after a walk otherwise I will be endlessly irritated.

Braves acquire Joe Jimenez from Detroit

I feel like to be a super utility guy you have to have a good enough glove where a team is excited to play you all over the diamond. I get the sense that for Malloy its less "he's such a good defender he can play everywhere" and more "he's not good enough to play anywhere, so lets try him...

You know things are boring when we're talking about trading a guy who is top 2-3 at his position over the past 5 years and is on a ridiculously team friendly deal. Shouldn't even be a conversation topic. Please pick up soon, offseason.

    2022 Trade Deadline

Have to think that going Adrianza route (rather than trying to find a starting caliber 2B) means they are comfortable that Albies is going to return at full strength.

5/24 GDT: Max starts a hot streak

I wonder if guys like Mullins or Reynolds would be available at a cheaper price if they continue to scuffle. I doubt it, but you never know.

I'm in the 'don't really think Waters will pan out' camp, but think this is an interesting conversation. This is from 2019, but "Analytically his 2019 metrics back up an above average grade with his max exit velocity topping 112 mph and an average EV of 89.5 mph." Not sure how that would be...

I don't think he's shown the durability or the command to be a starter. Smaller guy, live arm with a big fastball. Let him air it out for an inning at a time and try to keep him healthy. Will be a useful weapon out of the pen.
