Has not really come back to haunt them that I recall.

if you trade away young stars what are you even doing? Whats the thought process behind ever being goood? It's almost impossible for a team to put together the fair value to acquire something like that anyway.

    2025 Around The League Thread

If you think of a baseball team like a beach house, you are kind of getting on the right track. It doesn't produce income, but it always appreciates. I don't think everything from Battery and revenue is plowed back into payroll but I don't think Liberty sluffs off that much cash either.

My favorite thing about the internet is the "yeah they've made the playoffs many, many years in a row, but here is why that well actually sucks."

I do think the Braves have rotation depth pitching prospect types getting closer. They probably need to sign the next elder statesman type to a fair deal this offseason.

Also core players have sucked which is maybe worse than an injury.

    2025 Trade Deadline Thread

I think the Braves locked themselves into a roster that was near the limit of their spending power and were fairly dependent on that roster staying healthy and performing. They had pretty outrageously bad luck with that. Whether they could have done better with marginal filler or not is...

I suppose it just ended up working out that way but I had the same thought.

Let's hope so because he was taken very deep from the list of SS prospects.

Take it up with the best prospect guy in the business per Enscheff. He's a college SS that was something like the 21st SS drafted (and behind several other college SS) who signed well underslot in the second round. The upside might not be quite what you think.

I'm a little confused why you think I was trying to pass it off as my own since nearly everyone here reads fangraphs. but I suppose I should have remembered the quotation marks.

Except the fangraphs author who wrote the piece apparently. if you want to be thrilled the Braves signed a bunch of grossly underslot middle infielders with their first three picks then don't mind me. I want you to have that inner joy if you can manage it.

Lodise can play shortstop and has ambush pull power; he’s a lower-variance utilityman. Miller went to Cape Cod after the college season to try to elevate his stock and it looks like it worked. He’s a “maybe” shortstop who struggled on defense during the SoCon tournament and Regionals, but he has...

Definitely the most intriguing player in the draft class.

Nah, I'm good with the write up. Limited upside to pick 2 and 3 and big questions about #1. Pretty universal consensus.

I just don't get excited by middling middle infielder power, particularly in college prospects.

Fangraphs. The #1 has a swing with holes it is also said. .

I'm not all that excited about drafting college middle Infielders who seem to project as utility guys so it confuse me that folks think this was so much better than past drafts. Oddly a pitcher is the highest upside draft it seems.

I do t really get how people look at some names and stats and positions and decide they love or hate a draft. I look at a bunch of smaller college middle infielders and at baseline am unenthusiastic but who the hell the knows?

Dang AA got bullied into taking a bunch of SS after the run of SS had already happened. Good job fans. O
