GDT 9-26: Drake going for 20 HR

Acuna's value is almost completely tied to his ability to hit the ball 110+ mph and get on base 40% of the time. Anything else is just noise as far as his value is concerned, and anything that may prevent him from doing those 2 things as much as possible should be mitigated at all reasonable costs.

    2025-2026 offseason thread

It would take a pretty specific series of events for it to make sense to sign another DH-only bat: - AA misses out on all viable OFers on the FA market - AA misses out on all viable OFers on the trade market - No other SP/SS/BP needs exist on the roster - One of the DHs sees his market...

GDT 9-26: Drake going for 20 HR

Great. I made a logical expression that requires several statements to be true for the entire expression to be true. You can tell because I used the keyword "and". Once again you're arguing just to argue.

GDT 9-26: Drake going for 20 HR

I mean yeah, if he was still running on 2 mint knees, had an 80% success rate, and someone would red light him in appropriate spots, I’d say run wild. But he’s not, he doesn’t, and nobody is…so play it station to station.

GDT 9-26: Drake going for 20 HR

The expected run value of a SB is about +0.2 runs, while the value of getting caught is -0.45 runs. So while a SB is unquestionably valuable, they usually come with so many caught stealing that the overall value of all that running ends up being very small. For comparison, a single is worth a...

GDT 9-26: Drake going for 20 HR

Mostly because it’s hard to post a low value 30 HR season. Stolen bases are the most overrated stat in baseball

    GDT 9-28: The End

Coincidentally, 20 years ago was the last time Shanks had anything remotely useful to say about anything baseball related.

    Snit Watch

I have a feeling resetting the luxury tax was not AA's call. I give him the massive benefit of the doubt and theorize the choice to reset the tax was made after some of the offseason dominos had already fallen, and he didn't have time/resources to pivot.

Buster Posey, who clearly has no business being a GM, just fired Bob Melvin. While Melvin is a bit older than what I'd like to see leading the Braves, he and Schumaker make a couple of very good candidates to replace Snit. Melvin led the As from 2011-2021, led SD to it's first postseason in...

    Snit Watch

Snit corrected course late in the season and ended on a winning note. Now he can transition into a role that allows him to share his wealth of baseball knowledge with the entire organization as VP of Coaching Staffs. See how easy it is to sunset him? Figure it out and get a competent tactician...

    GDT 9-27: Pirates at Braves

I wish they would just get rid of all umpires. Let the zone be fully automated, let the players make all the obvious calls on the field, and send any disagreements to replay review. There is no reason to have human umpires anymore.

Is this the worst 20/20 season in the history of baseball?

I’m not particularly confident AA knows what the roster needs after the last few transaction periods.

Braves claim Manoah off waivers from Blue Jays.

Just what this team needs, another question mark SP.

    2025-2026 offseason thread

There’s no way a sane person claims Manoah fixes the rotation that is already completely full of question marks. AA needs actual MLB pitchers who can actually start games and actually get outs.

    2025-2026 offseason thread

Of all the Braves options for SP, the one most likely to start the season as a healthy and above average pitcher is Sale. Think about what that statement means. The guy who just broke a rib during a slow motion dive on grass and is a sneeze away from a back injury is the MOST LIKELY SP to be...

    2025-2026 offseason thread

Looking at his 2025 xwOBA that’s a lot of cash to pay a guy who just posted a .314, which is a bit above average. He would be the clear #3 if Strider continues to look like a back end guy. I feel like I’d rather have woodruff, cease or Suarez

just read that. Like I said though, either way that’s the type contract AA isn’t usually scared to take.
