    Wren "dismissed" --

One could look at this as the "dreaded vote of confidence." What else, other than an endorsement, would Bobby Cox give during a press conference concerning Frank Wren?

GDT: 9/15/14 BRAVES vs NATIONALS 7:10 ET

IMO it doesn't have anything to do with being good or bad. If he's in the lineup, then he shouldn't be left to twist in the wind like that. It may have been a simple breakdown in communication (BJ's immediate body language seemed to suggest he thought he was out, I don't recall Dascenzo...

GDT: 9/15/14 BRAVES vs NATIONALS 7:10 ET

Yes, I noticed that and found it odd to say the least: Bossman, not walking toward the dugout, almost loitering, casting hopeful eyes toward the bench; meanwhile, Fredi, instead of going out to chat up the umpire while Tosca makes the call to the replay eyes, is standing at the steps, looking...

Pete Van Weiren passes away at 69.

RIP Professor Pete. He and Ernie were a good counterbalance/straight men for Skip.

GDT: July 20, 2014: Phillies (Kendrick) @ Braves (Wood)

Other than Oakland and LA Angels, the AL is on the parity plan as well.

    Bullpens since the run began

Whoa. "Boever the Saver," I can still hear Skip saying that. I remember Charlie "Large Thing" Kerfeld being the closer for just a little while in 1990. Thanks for the memory jog!

The Official It's Better for Everyone That Dan Uggla's Done Thread

As yeezus says above, he could refuse to be sent down due to his time served.

The Official It's Better for Everyone That Dan Uggla's Done Thread

Someone with a better knowledge of roster business please chime in, but IIRC, when a player is DFA (one of the options being assignment to the minors, which Uggla can refuse due to MLB service), he is no longer on the roster. Uggla was suspended, so he had to be on the roster, so DFA can't have...

The Official It's Better for Everyone That Dan Uggla's Done Thread

Wouldn't the DFA process already be in motion if he refused assignment?

GDT 7/6/14: ARZ (Miley) vs. ATL (Wood): Seeking Another Sweep

I don't mind BJ being leadoff for the time being. Anywhere else, and IMO the "bad BJ" starts affecting what the batter before him sees during their at-bat. If I was his manager, I would try to summon the managerial spirits of John McGraw, Fred Haney, and Walt Alston in an attempt to convince...

    Reds Send Jurrjens To Rockies

MLB at Bat shows him as the starter tonight against the Dodgers.

GDT: Braves @ Phillies (June 29th) Dawn of the Planet of the Harangutan

My only complaint about DS as play-by-play is that he is too understated in his call of the action. I honestly think he's the best or at least in the best group of radio color announcers. He's smart, informative, and entertaining.

Fredi doubling down; GDT 6/27/'14: Braves @ Phils, Teheranasaurus!

His "trying to make contact" swing is quite nice. The hoik to Cow Corner isn't.

GDT #55, 5/31/14: Braves (Santana) vs. Marlins (Turner), 4:10 EDT

Well, which is it young feller? You want I should freeze or get down on the ground?

    Off topic...Hawk Harrelson

The timing of the "Yes" calls in between the fireworks was a nice touch.
