I wish he had a little more defensive versatility.

He must be replaced with someone modern and competent. That’s the first huge domino.

Of any pitcher, I think he’s open to changes. He’s very cerebral and self-interrogating.

GDT 8-18: White Sox at Braves

I don’t think there’s that big of a difference. It’s a question of whether players with demonstrated elite talents can make the necessary adjustments to succeed again. I still believe Strider can—his present poor stretch notwithstanding.

GDT 8-18: White Sox at Braves

It’s worth mentioning that the things being said about Strider tonight were the sorts of things being said about Michael Harris II for a couple months. Worthwhile perspective before we throw in the collective towel on Strider’s career.

GDT 8-18: White Sox at Braves

You guys are all such chicken-littles. Next season will really show us if Strider can rebound. For now, rumors of his demise are incredibly premature.

Just like with Cy’s mom most nights, you are once again very premature.

I question if these guys even get erections about baseball.

GDT 8-18: White Sox at Braves

I’m still hoping with a full offseason that Strider can get back to elite status. It might not look the same as pre-brace Elite Strider; but, if anyone can analyze and body-optimize his way back to ace-level pitching, it’s him.

Acuña looks like a guy that took a few weeks off and could’ve used some rehab PAs in the minors.

Retool. Which is why Snitker is just the man to helm it.

And, after all that discussion re clearing reps for Gil, it looks like the bump for Miller most likely has as much to do with Southisene being activated:

I’m irrationally devastated by Tavarez’s fading prospects, because he has an incandescent, platinum-grade first-name, and I was hoping if he made MLB I could find out how he ended up named after a first-century BC Gaulish hero, “prince of the Eburones,” and national hero of Belgian resistance...

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

I’ll defer to your superior observations on his defensive play thus far. Nevertheless, I think with a kid that young, you let him see if he can improve his defensive actions (especially given his top-tier speed and good arm), and then move him off later if it comes to that. Miller, meanwhile...

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

I’d imagine Lodise will take the bulk of reps at SS and Miller will move around the infield and maybe play some OF, given the former needs more SS experience while the latter already boasts quality defensive versatility as a positive trait.

To expand on this: Gil has been playing a lot of 3B since Miller arrived in Low-A. However, Gil has legitimate potential to stick at SS, but needs to be tested full-time. It’s mlb.com, so salt this info accordingly, however:

Sensible. He’s 21, a college player, and looks (albeit in a small sample) to be over-advanced for Low-A. Meanwhile, the Braves need to keep getting John Gil reps at SS—especially now that he’s showing some power to complement his speed and hit-tool.

    Grading Waldrep's Stuff

The discrepancy between, on the one hand, the granular pitch characteristics data Enscheff posted and, on the other hand, that xwoba data, Stuff+, and the reflections of scouts, is intriguing. We need a much larger MLB sample; but, if the discrepancy holds over that larger sample, it’ll be...
