Sure. But which pitchers aren’t, at this point? The model is: collect two rotations’ worth of talented starters, hope some mix of them gets you to the playoffs by September, and pray you have four left pitching well heading into October.

But even the “apologists” have been clamoring for more SP depth all offseason? So he’s really just roaring into a void of imagined disagreement at this point.

It doesn’t need to mean players make less money, but that’s clearly the owners’ intention here.

The post-punishment IFA classes have been staggeringly unproductive heretofore.

The Braves exist in fiduciary superposition: they both do and do not have resources at any given moment they aren’t directly observed. Anthopoulos is working with Schrödinger’s Budget (which is obviously average).

That was a signal they had no money. This is a signal they still have money. Either way we should be panicking.

While all of you were debating the average of average, the Braves did make a pitching signing (which I fully expected a couple weeks ago when he was first released).

Almost 24% reporting and Andruw sitting just above 81%. This may be the year. If so, the narrative will be: two electric-if-flawed outfielders with generational talent but deep legacy warts waltz into the Hall together anyways.

Obviously a lot of unreported ballots out there, but Andruw at 80% with 12% reported, in a relatively weak 2026 field, leads me to feel he’s getting in this year. Wouldn’t be surprised, indeed, if it’s him and Beltran.

Surprised he didn’t get another year or two at a lower AAV from a contender; but he may see his likelihood of being traded at the deadline as a positive. Either way, relievers are getting paid so far this offseason.

I think his comment had more to do with the specific acquisition cost of Peralta than a fundamental obliviousness to surplus value re Free Agency. And given what the the Rays received for Shane Baz, I’d bet Peralta’s cost would be pretty steep. Fair to debate whether six cheap years of Ritchie...

Would love to see the Braves sign Tatsuya Imai. I think he has the best mix of upside, age, and lack of acquisition cost (no QO penalty, will only cost money). Moreover, it’s been long overdue for the team to dip their toe back into the East Asian FA market.
