Yeah, I don't know how the Dodgers would ever handle a lot of injuries.

The Yankees losing Soto to the Mets would be absolutely humiliating. George Steinbrenner would look up with shock from his place in the afterlife.

Braves Aquire IF Nick Allen for Jared Johnson

I'll be honest: I have no idea who either of these people are.

    Looking towards 2025

I'd be thrilled with just about any three-year deal for Fried.

    Jorge Soler to the Angels

DOB says we're not sending along any money. Angels are taking on all of Soler's contract.

Apparently George Lombard is one of the big managerial prospects. I remember Lombard as a hotshot Braves prospect around the turn of the millennium, and I remember how pissed some folks on whatever message board we were using at the time were when the Braves traded him in 2002. And not only is...

Braves fire Seitzer and assistant hitting coach. Also Fasano.

Seitzer's wife had cancer this season -- that was why he took a month off in the middle of the season. She recovered, thankfully, but it's not hard to imagine how that might affect someone's overall job performance.

Braves fire Seitzer and assistant hitting coach. Also Fasano.

We obviously never know what's going on behind the scenes, and I don't want to overreact when the impact of coaches is pretty ambiguous and hard to quantify. I think the hope with Langeliers as a prospect was that he could be a low-BA hitter who popped enough home runs to generate real value at the plate while drawing just enough walks to keep the OBP on the right side of embarrassing. Which is mostly what has happened, though the OBP is still pretty...

Victor Vodnik is having a vaguely respectable season, considering he's pitching in Coors. Too many walks, but a 108 ERA+ isn't anything to be ashamed of.

It's hard to see how he comes back from this (and, in fairness, it seems very possible he doesn't want to).

This is a crazy story. Apparently he told his teammates that he wanted the season to end.

If this somehow ends with us knocking out the Phillies in the first round of the playoffs I am never going to stop laughing. It won't be a pleasant laugh, but I will be laughing.

That's a fun BB-Ref page. I particularly enjoy the .292 slugging percentage at AAA.

I wonder if he would have been a bigger deal back when online stathead types were championing high-walk, high-OBP, low-power minor league prospects like Jackie Rexrode. Everyone has kind of soured on that archetype.
