    2025 Around The League Thread

In trying to create a record narrative of this season it seems to me that it was the tale of 47's. First 47 games - 24-23 (hanging tough despite an 0-7 start), last 47 games 28-19 (Getting Waldrep, Sale back, offense found). But those middle 68... In those 68, we had a 5-16 record in 1-run...

    GDT 9-28: The End

The Braves were 45-48 in that same span, which included a 10-25 streak.

If only we played .500 in run-one games. It seems like it, but we were not that far off.

    GDT 9-28: The End

Yep that Morton moment was special. Very few players - and I mean VERY few - get to go out like that. For all the strange moves or non-moves this year, the Braves do know the 'right way'.

A sh*t year but at least the Astros and Mets also choked.

Braves claim Manoah off waivers from Blue Jays.

Certainly worth a gamble. He was one of the best pitchers in the AL in 21 and 22, and then mysteriously lost it in 23. Came back okay in early 24 but seems to have gotten injured, and didnt appear again until July of this year. Did okay in AAA before getting released. At 2 mil you can make that...

A part of me would like to see him sit to preserve his .800 OPS but I think the HR is more necessary. 20-80 would make a statement.

I'm really pulling for the Tigers at the expense of the Astros. I just cant imagine s**ting the bed that badly. Well, 2011 I guess. This seems even worse tho. This was the best team in the AL for most of the year. The funny thing is they did the reverse last year - being bad to mediocre and then...

If I was a betting man I would be taking 170 all day long.

All those 1 run losses early in the season really hurt. I give the Braves the losses after they lost all their pitchers, but we had a mostly full team in April and May and went 9-19 in 1 run games.

He can't be any worse than a guy like Hayes. Good defense and gets on base.

What this is telling me is that 3B is not a strong position right now. Like McMahon leading the Yankees in WAR there and he's only been there two months. In fact he's the leading WAR 3B for two teams, as is Suarez and Hayes.

    2025-2026 offseason thread

bWAR is not trash - it just measures different things. bWAR measures results, while fWAR measures underlying skills that should turn into results. Those underlying skills don't always turn into results (See Cease, Dylan). There comes a point where you have to prevent runs. If you can't do that...

If.. and it's a big if, we get everyone back next year I'm not sure we're shopping in the high end of the SP store. More like the bargain bin for a 6th starter. I mean.. We have Sale, Schwelly, Strider, Waldrep. Then Holmes and Lopez coming back from injury, and Elder as the backup to all those...

They also might have helped ruin at least one season over the weekend, which I also admire.

That would be in the Mets territory of failure. That was 7 games with 17 to play.

It's still really interesting. The odds are just odds. Baldwin still has the lead in both WARS and he's turned it on the last few games.

    GDT 9-20: Drake at DH

I liked that game. The stadium was packed, the stakes were high or the Tigers, and we absolutely crushed their souls.

    Probably Verlander. More durable.
