No one is saying we didn't need pitching 2 weeks ago or that we don't need it now. The only thing being argued is that somehow we've punted this season even before it started because we didn't get 1 additional pitcher.

If we had acquired Joe Ryan 2 months ago, you'd have called it great off-season and we'd still be down 2 starters right now and looking at Bryce Elder as our likely 5th starter. Were we supposed to acquire 3 additional quality starters on top of the 6 starters we already had coming into this...

Yeah, saying we "punted" this season is pretty hilarious. Not getting a TOR SP simply kept us from being considered an elite team. We still project to be one of the 6 best teams in the NL currently. You can rightly criticize AA's decision making while understanding this is still a really good team.

Fangraphs top 100 was released this morning. Interesting that Caminiti is nowhere to be found when pretty much every scouting service has Cam as our best prospect. Granted they only have 4 pitchers total under 21 on this list, and Fuentes is 1 of them. I'm not quite sure why Caden Scarborough is...

The caveat is that the Dodgers have Ohtani, which allowed them to carry 14 total pitchers for a good portion of last year. And they also had the luxury of signing Kershaw late last off-season. It seemed like Kershaw didn't have a desire to pitch anywhere else and the Dodgers, who already had a...

I'm checked out on the pitching at this point. It is what it is. At least on the pitching side, we'll likely get a chance to watch the young guys in Ritchie, Fuentes, and Sinnard. It's always fun to see top prospects get a shot. I'm more interested in seeing our offense rebound AND stay...

    1. I wasn't suggesting we just give Scherzer a spot. We need depth though. 2. I would still put money in Scherzer being a better pitcher.

I don't disagree. But he'll be relatively cheap.

We could do worse than Max Scherzer, imo. Please no on Corbin

Still better than the flames. The new logo looks really good on the helmets. I do think there will be a secondary logo with a sword.

I'm happy with it. Old logo was tacky as hell. I did like the other work ups I've seen with the sword tho.

This is my fault guys. I've talked so much shit about Elder this off-season and how he would for sure be cut by opening day since he was out of options and was the 8 the best SP option. 150 innings from Elder incoming.

Who is doing that? I asked a question on whether guys are usually throwing in their normal velocity range this time of year. I even hedged that question with "I don't have faith Lopez gets through the season unscathed." Regardless, Google seems to believe it's at least somewhat common. Found...

I don't have much faith in Lopez making it through the year unscathed, but is this really much of a concern at this point? Are guys throwing sitting at their normal range this early in ST?

The divide between the haves and have nots has grown wider than it ever has in my memory. Even the mid 2000 Yankees didn't have this great of a divide. The Dodgers combined payroll between luxury tax and actual payroll is 546 million. That is more than double the actual payroll of all but 4...

I'd also like to give an HM to Brett Sears. While he is already 25 and his stuff isn't anything special, he had a pretty great year in 2025 and should open the year in AAA. I don't suspect he will make it as a SP, but the guy just absolutely pounds the zone. He reminds me of Bryse Wilson in that...

Certainly 6 yrs of control is a bit much. Especially for college drafted players. Many of them won't be eligible for their first FA contract until after they turn 30, which is ridiculous. Also, I think arbitration eligibility should be forfeited if a player is released from the team that...

If we could get proper revenue sharing on board and have teams actually being forced to use that revenue sharing, I think they would.

If Florida, Tampa, Cleveland, Pitt, Minny, CO, etc, are suddenly forced to spend 80-100 million more, the players are not going to find themselves lacking for money.

NFL has twice as many players and they manage to make it work with cap only about 20% higher than the proposed cap here. Make a hard floor about 20% lower than the cap and that would fix 90% of the issues we see.
