A’s give up a three run bomb. Down 3-0 in the 4th.

Braves lose, so the Giants and Cardinals officially can’t catch us. Marlins win/Braves loss combo eliminates the Marlins from catching us. So we’re really down to three remaining teams to monitor - Athletics, Orioles, Rays.

GDT 9-26: Drake going for 20 HR

Is there a conversation to be had about Pierce Johnson’s option? I’m not sure it’s the total lock that I thought it was a couple months ago.

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

Just brutal stuff here from Baseball America: It was a debut to forget for Southisene. The Braves first-rounder hit .219/.242/.297 in 15 games with Low-A Augusta and had a brutal 27:1 strikeout-to-walk rate. Among 50+ PA hitters, Southisene ranked dead last with a .157 xwOBA. He was one of the...

They announced yesterday Morton will start and Sale will follow him, which makes it even funnier to me. Gotta get that 36-year-old, injury prone pitcher in a meaningless game no matter what.

Final three days. Every team on the list below has the chance to at minimum tie us this weekend. And the only team on that list we hold the tiebreaker advantage over is Baltimore. Everyone else would essentially jump us if we tie them. The only way the Giants and Cardinals tie us is if they...

Wow, I saw 5-2 Rays and thought that was a final score. Not sure how I got that wrong, but that’s great. Still a three-way tie heading into the weekend!

Pretty awful day so far. Orioles and Athletics both lost. That puts us in a three-way tie heading into the weekend, and of course we play by far the weakest opponent.

The tiebreaker is actually based on 2024 records. So the team with the worst 2024 record gets the higher odds in the case of a tie. That's bad news for us with pretty much everyone - except the Orioles. We have the tiebreaker with them but no one else we're battling with.

Horton's odds as the favorite dropped from -370 to -210 in the last 36 hours. Baldwin from +175 to +170.

Also worth noting that Keith Law ranked Baldwin #27 and Horton #74 in his preseason top 100. And there's nothing Keith Law loves more than Keith Law, so he would love to prove he was right. I've spent way too much time reading old things about the one of 30 NL ROY voters we know, but I would...

Good catch, I missed that. Worth noting - he wrote last year that he would've voted for Cowser over Gil for AL ROY. Some similarities between that and the Baldwin-Horton situation.

First person I've seen mention they are a NL Rookie of the Year voter - Keith Law. I actually think this is good news, he's pretty analytically driven. Now it's time for us to get Coppy to offer him some money for a Baldwin vote.

The most predictably stupid part of this final week - the Braves just announced they'll start Strider/Sale in the final two games of the season this weekend.

Athletics and Orioles both won, which helps us. Would be nice if we'd lose some games here and there though. Updated standings: 4. Athletics 4. Baltimore 0 GB 6. Braves 0.5 GB 7. Tampa Bay 2 GB 8. San Francisco 2.5 GB 9. Miami 3 GB
