We just have to look on the bright side. Getting SS2 back in the second half will be like making a trade for a TOR pitcher

The money is guaranteed as long as he stays with the organization or is claimed. If he elects FA he’d have to forfeit his money because he has less than 5 years of service time. Teams often use this to their advantage in order to build non roster depth.

That is not what happened. It’s likely nobody will claim him and that they can just outright him because he’d have to give up his money if he chose FA.

Murphy is not the backup catcher. He’s 1/2 of a catcher timeshare. I don’t know why people don’t understand that.

The problems with Ozuna are he cant even fake it out in the field and if he signs with us he’ll still be a 10/5 guy making it difficult to move on when his role becomes more reduced. I mean what is he for us right now? A short side platoon bat? Why not just get Grichuk?

Pitchers and catchers haven’t reported yet. Valdez is likely holding up the market for Bassitt and Giolito.

It sounds like Acuna actually has the inside track for the Sox CF job

Getting Kim back will be just like trading for a SS around the deadline

It would limit the amount of QO FAs a high spending team could sign in an offseason and would severely limit their ability to draft their own players. They also wouldn’t be able to use the QO to recoup draft assets. I’d also have the system work so that these teams don’t just lose their picks...

What if the luxury tax penalty got more severe for level 3+ and repeater luxury tax teams. Make it so they have to give up either their first or second and third round pick to the team they sign them from. Also they can’t offer their own players QOs

Well that should get the pitching market moving again. Maybe Giolito could be an option for us.

There hasn’t been a whole lot of info about possible Imai destinations which sounds like the Braves MO. Also correcting myself from earlier Imai’s posting window ends on the 2nd. Okamoto’s window is up on the 4th. So we should know about Imai any day now.

Imai’s posting window closes on the 4th so we’ll likely see some movement on the other pitchers soon after.

I’d guess that his market hasn’t really developed yet. Imai is likely the next big pitcher to sign. Then Suarez’s Valdez’s and Bassitt’s markets should start to open up

He has less value to us than any other team in the league. If he comes back here he still has 10/5 rights
