Yeah that deal would be hard to pass up on Bassitt unless he's working on something bigger but this close to ST that's hard to believe. 1 year 18.5 million with no QO? Man that stings.
You couldn't. It happened 2 weeks ago so I'm surprised AA didn't do something in that time period before he was forced to break the news. Now everybody knows he's hurt and we need a replacement.
They said they found out almost 2 weeks ago. I don't know how it would be illegal not telling another team you have a hurt pitcher so you don't get bent over.
Good list Carp. I like Briggs McKenzie and could see him having a big year in a full season of pro ball. Whoever we take at 9 will probably be in our top 3 prospects
AA can't force somebody to sign or give 3 years to a 37 year old if that's what he's wanting and what he's wanting must be high bc nobody else has signed him either. I wish we could have gotten Cease.
They waited this long bc they wanted to fully check him out and look at his ucl which they are saying is ok. I hope that's all it is and he does come back around the break but I don't trust our medical staff.
We knew an injury was gonna happen but not this soon. We need 2 SP now bc somebody else will go down before ST is over. Bassitt is durable so he needs to be one of the 2.
Silver lining is we didn't give Schwellenbach an extension yet. I'm guessing JR Ritchie is gonna start the year in the rotation or try making a big trade for Ryan.
Same. Ozuna was a good clubhouse leader and Cutch would help fill a void. Still wondering if AA is gonna get another SP. if Bassitt signs somewhere else for 1 year then I think he's gonna stand pat.
I'll wait to reserve judgement until he's had a full year in the minors. Pro ball is a whole lot different from college and it takes some longer to adjust than others.
That's why I could see them trading Skubal now. They probably knew he was gonna win so signed Framber so they would still be competitive. I don't see how they can afford both.
I'd trust Bassitt over Elder any day and I'd guess any GM in baseball would agree. We have a rotation full of injury prone pitchers so having one that's not would be a nice change.
