Hope DeSantis works some magic. It would be amazing to see the South catch up in science and technology.

There are certain groups that receive preferential treatment under the law. I find that regretable.

Actually we already have a program that gives residency to foreigners who invest a certain amount of money in this country.

From my adopted country of Mexico we only have one science Nobelist, but he was a big one. Mario Molina shared the chemistry prize in 1995 for identifying the role of chlorofluorocarbon in causing the hole in the ozone layer. I can't help but think that in today's environment his work would...

    Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

I was looking at US-born Nobel Prize winners in the sciences by birth region and was struck by the paucity from the South. Anyone know why the South is such an intellectual desert? Numbers are by decade 1960s to 2010s South: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 Midwest: 6, 8, 9, 10, 10, 11 Northeast: 10, 14...

Apply the law impartiality. The answer is easy for those of us with a sincere belief in law and order. The issue of people not filing or not paying is not unique to undocumented migrants.

You know we have laws and administrative procedures for that. I'm not a tax lawyer. You can ask one for details.

I didn’t vote for Trump but I’m cautiously optimistic

Sure. I'm not opposed to requiring back taxes be paid. I'm a law and order guy. Just not looking for excuses to mass deport hard-working law-abiding people.

I'm glad to hear that. Enjoy all the good thangs the world has to offer. As for my not caring about criminality, I think it is no exaggeration to say that I am the most consistently law and order person here. I'm against defunding ICE and the IRS. Many of you have expressed pleasure at...

I didn’t vote for Trump but I’m cautiously optimistic

eh...no my position hasn't evolved...it is true that (except for those who follow the letter of the law by surrendering to a border agent and announcing a claim of asylum) undocumented migrants are breaking the law...as are those who overstay visas...my point is if they have been here five years...

Undocumented migrants account for 5% of the workforce. I once thought that even Trump would not be stupid enough to try to deport them all. But the tariffs nonsense is starting to change my mind. There appears to be no limit to his stupidity.

I didn’t vote for Trump but I’m cautiously optimistic

eh...the approach I've taken was once Republican mainstream. And it remains the best option. I put up a clip of Kasich advocating the same thang. Newt Gingrich (that radical lefty) took a similar position in a presidential debate. Dunno if he has changed his tune. Ronald Reagan (another...

This kind of shit is so dumb and counterproductive. Beyond stupid. And damaging to our image and economy in a variety of ways. If you do a cost-benefit of shit like that you can't help but conclude it is a policy by stupid people with massive psychological hangups.

They will send you more reminders. They try very hard not to criminalize thangs. It is a pragmatic approach. Not everyone shares you anxiety about things that can be managed in a pragmatic and equitable manner. You should chill a little. Hang out with Pedro. Have a beer. Tell him how...
