I kinda get the sense that what we might see happen is AA wait around until late in the off season to see if anyone of value over priced themselves and will have to settle for a contract he's comfortable with.

It's arguable if there is even that much of a benefit to dip under the luxury tax to make it even worth it. Especially for a team squarely in their contention window. On the other hand, the team as constructed without any further moves has a high probability to make the playoffs. Especially...

I agree with you, I don't think it makes sense either considering we have nobody ready to plug the hole Albies would leave. It was a bit surprising to see Bowman even mention it.

I should have provided his entire commentary on this (there wasnt much more): There would also be reason to debate moving Ozzie Albies, the three-time All-Star second baseman whose contract includes a $7 million salary for 2025 and $7 million options for 2026 and ’27. That’s a good value if he...

In his latest newsletter, Bowman speculates that the Braves could consider Albies a trade candidate this off season due to his declining defense and cheap 3 years remaining of his contract.

The five years doesn't make alot of sense to me. As you said, what other team would come close to matching this deal? Edman was a 5 WAR player back in 2022, so maybe the Dodgers see something they can unlock. But next year will be his age 30 season. He's a plus defender at multiple positions so...

The thought that comes to mind after hearing the news of the Snell signing (along with more deferred money), is the gap in the league between the big spending teams and non spending teams continues to increase every year. This is especially evident now that the big spending teams mostly all have...

It definitely was a bit puzzling considering the cost to acquire him. But maybe there's something the Braves staff saw they didn't like while he was here.

From the MLB Trade Rumors mailbag chat today. They don't have inside info, but still found this interesting with all of the names they mentioned as possibilities for Atlanta. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/mlb-mailbag-braves-padres-red-sox-rangers-reds-rizzo-buehler.html Bill asks...

The only positive i can say about the Braves being locked into this crappy contract is at least they have revenue certainty, since the contract is being kept. Some of the other teams who had their contract voided don't have a guaranteed arrangement. And it appears many of those teams are...

Gray has actually stated his desire to play relatively close to his home in Nashville. So maybe he'd consider Atlanta.

There are only two realistic destinations for Soto, which are the Yankees and Mets. Soto has stated a desire to play for a winning organization, effectively said he prefers to play on the east coast, and his salary demands eliminate most other options.

Liberty’s John Malone Gives Terry McGuirk More Power With The Braves

Fascinating stuff actually. Here's a snippet of it which kinda caught me by surprise. Leads me to believe the Braves will be acquired by new ownership in the not too distant future. Which seemed obvious when they went public with the stock. The changes McGuirk referenced stem from an August...

I wonder what the cost to acquire Correa would even be, knowing he comes with the massive contract. But he's another one who seems to miss time every year.

I dunno why, but I'm paranoid that payroll is being cut. Sure, AA recently said that payroll was going up. But he also recently said that all of the coaching staff would be back, and then 3 were gone. I don't think anyone here ever gave it a though that d'Arnaud's option might not be picked up...

Fun to dream on Soto, but I don't see any way the Braves end up being the highest bidder. Here in NY, there are two owners who have deep pockets and are desperate to sign him. Cohen seems the most desperate and will go to any price. Should be fascinating to see the bidding war play out.

It's actually been fun to watch the Cardinals organization go through this, after they've managed to be good for so long somehow. There have recently been serious indications that they are way behind in their player development areas, whether that meaning it's under funded or they no longer have...
