Looking towards 2025

Adames apparently already has an offer of 7/160+ on the table from the Mets to play 3B. Why would they do that rather than just signing Bregman?

Sounds like Houston is gonna try real hard to keep Bregman.

Is Vientos that bad on defense? I mean I guess NY must think so if they are gonna move him off of 3b.

Was just coming to say that. That’s a big deal so I think that could be why AA has been saving money so he can get a really good LF and SP.

lol.

Stop. Everyone really knows the intent here...They're going cheap...plain and simple.

He isn't that bad but he is as good as he will ever get defensively. It will only get worse as he gets older. Probably move him to 1B. They would be morons to re-sign their FA 1B. He basically had the same season as Olson. Would you give 25+ millionna year long term to a guy whose best is 2024 Olson?

No but there are other 1b options that would cost a lot less money than Adames or Alonso.

And certainly there is Bregman that could sign, who is actually a 3b.

About the only FA 1B worth a look other than Alonso is (former Brave for a week) Christian Walker and he's 34. I found it a bit puzzling that Arizona did the QO with Walker.

As per Adames, I get a bit of a Xander Bogaerts vibe off of him when it comes to defense. Both those guys sit around 215 pounds and we've seen Bogaerts have to basically move off the SS position full-time. I'm old and realize that the era when SSs were 5-10 and weighed 160 pounds is long gone, but the Mets may be just trying to get ahead of a likely downturn in Adames' defense. Also, with Lindor at SS, they clearly wouldn't put Adames there. I think the bigger question vis-a-vis Adames is whether his bat will carry at 3B on a long-term deal.

Trading for Sonny Gray if Stl eats about 20 or so million would be a good plan too.

Gray has said he doesn’t anticipate waiving his no-trade clause and would like to stay in St Louis. Ditto Contreras (who’s moving to 1B).

Seems only Arenado has the good sense to potentially jump that sinking ship.

This may be a negotiating ploy to add another year, etc... but yeah that stinks.

He can say that but if the right opportunity presented itself, i could see him waive it. Especially if St Louis does a mini retool this offseason.

Morosi said he thinks Braves have a better chance at signing Eovaldi than Texas does. Texas is also possibly cutting payroll, and Eovaldi wont come with a huge, long-term deal like Fried will. So that's up AA's alley. Strider, Sale, Lopez, Schwelly and Eovaldi would certainly be a very very formidable top 5 once Strider's ready.

I've always liked Eovaldi and have been disappointed when the Braves didn't go after him in previous off-seasons.

He was only available a couple years ago but he had a QO attached to him. He re-signed with Boston after they won the WS. But he'd be a great addition if we could get him.

Gray has actually stated his desire to play relatively close to his home in Nashville. So maybe he'd consider Atlanta.
