I didn’t see anything to get excited about stuff wise. The slider looked awful and the fastball very hittable. He’s going to need to be pristine with location.
Tough to tell on video, but I do think AJSS has a lot of deception with his delivery. I think that is helping him a lot. But deception is less effective the more looks batters get.
Soroka’s a back end starter. Stuff is but nothing to get excited about. Command is pretty bad. That could get better over time. But he’s a different pitcher. The old Soroka is dead.
I thought spin is something that you can’t really improve dramatically. He is on the shorter side so the arm angle will help the fastball play up. But that lack of spin on the slider won’t work if accurate.
Biggest change is he’s crushing fastballs inner half. He would get jammed at times on 91 inside. Now he’s crushing 98 inside. He’s made some tweaks that have paid off.
