One of the two Cleveland pitchers who broke covid protocols apparently made a six-minute video, while he was driving, blaming the media for everything. They've been optioned out because it was what their teammates in the clubhouse wanted. Those goddamn media members in uniform.

The whole "Newk found his niche as a reliever" thing isn't really right, either. He had an ERA around 3 as a reliever, but he was still walking more than a batter per inning and an xFIP over 4. He was just luckier in a SSS as a reliever.

Execution might have been a little too far, though.

That was before my time, but it's not hard to imagine. How many guys have ever had as little control as Newcomb and then gained enough at the MLB level to become even an average starter? I can only think of Randy Johnson. To a lesser extent, Ryan.

In four starts this season, Newcomb has pitched 13 2/3, allowing 20 hits, 4 homers, 6 walks, and 10 Ks, with an 11.20 ERA and a 6.15 xFIP. I don't really case that it's a SSS, this is unwatchable and unrosterable.

I mean... he is an idiot... but do you mean we somehow would be giving the game away less by leaving in the guy allowing two runs for every out he gets? Because that seems counter intuitive unless you have a ten run lead in the ninth.

If Newcomb stays on the roster after this considering when and how Folty was DFAed, we'll know who has the Snitker blackmail photos, a la Lockhart.

I like the D'Arnaud signing, very pleased with it, and still cannot see the reasonable argument for signing him for another 3-4 years after next season.

He honestly might be the streakiest player I've ever seen. He'll hit .150 for a month, then hit .550 with 15 homers the next month. Francoeur said during the broadcast today that he only threw one fastball in that game that hit 88, and the rest were all below that. So "about 88" is actually too generous.

I have faith he can still walk 17 in those 3 1/3 innings.
