I mean... he is an idiot... but do you mean we somehow would be giving the game away less by leaving in the guy allowing two runs for every out he gets? Because that seems counter intuitive unless you have a ten run lead in the ninth.

In four starts this season, Newcomb has pitched 13 2/3, allowing 20 hits, 4 homers, 6 walks, and 10 Ks, with an 11.20 ERA and a 6.15 xFIP. I don't really case that it's a SSS, this is unwatchable and unrosterable.

I distinctly remember someone on this board showing how unlikely it was for Newk to become a useful SP about 3 years ago. Why he keeps being run out there in that role is about as confusing as running Duvall out there vs RHP.

That was before my time, but it's not hard to imagine. How many guys have ever had as little control as Newcomb and then gained enough at the MLB level to become even an average starter? I can only think of Randy Johnson. To a lesser extent, Ryan.
