This is a fundamental gap in his understanding about leverage, which is critical when making pitching and PH substitutions. The high leverage spot NOW is more important than the future high leverage spot that may never occur. It is precisely why modern managers use their closer in a tie game in the 9th nowadays rather than waiting for a save situation that may never come...literally the exact same concept.
Since firing Snit and replacing him with someone like Weiss would be counterproductive, the FO needs to script the most likely 15 or so scenarios for every game. His poor decisions can't continue to be a headwind against the team in close games. Snit isn't causing losses with his choices (even the optimal choice is only slightly better than the others), but he sure is making it harder to win.
