09/22/21 GDT Braves @ D-Backs Continuing To Give Arizona Its Just Deserts

This one's better.

its comical at this point.

I guess we all need to accept that should we make the playoffs, we are going to lose a huge challenge and its gonna cost us advancing.

Replay is a joke. Duvall robbed of a homer and a double tonight. Snitker more upset about the replay not being overturned than the umps costing the Duvall and the team a homer run.

WTF is the point of having replay if a bunch of guys on the interwebs can screen grab a clear answer and the people in New York can't get it right? I mean, what is the ****ing point? It would be comical if it weren't so crucial sometimes.

Ozzie loves that 3rd spot.

Hopefully the misconception of Ozzie as a sparky little guy who can hit leadoff has been permanently discarded. He needs to be aggressive to be successful and he's really a run producer, not a run scorer. And I think he gets a little out of whack when he hits leadoff. At 3 or 4 he's clearly more comfortable. Frankly, Freddie looks good at 2, too.

Do we even have a high OBP guy to lead off? I guess Ronald will handle it when he's back. He's not ideal, either, but at least it doesn't screw with his head.

Contreras looks better at the plate.

With the bat, I think he's going to be fine. I haven't seen any glaring problems behind the plate since his return, and last night he caught a nice game, but he was rough earlier in the year and I don't know how well he thinks along with his pitcher.

He might be the one to trade if Langeliers can hit .250.

Crazy that so many even questioned if albies could hit 20 in a season.

I mean, not really. He wasn't projected to be this guy... thankfully, prospect rankings/projections aren't the say-all LOL

Scouting report for Ozzie Albies in 2014
Hit: 45
Power: 20
Run: 70
Arm: 60
Field: 50
Overall: 50

The hit tool was way undersold. I think it was J3k that always said he barreled balls all over the place.

This is why bat and plate discipline tools are by far the most important for a young hitter.

Albies crushed it in the minors. That hit tool should have been 50 at the very least but more likely a 55.

He was SUPER young at every level.

What was the stat about him not facing a pitcher younger than him till AAA? Am I remembering that correctly?

I believe so.

I'm good with this but is there any reason to think Ozzie would be able to hit righties as a right handed hitter?

Enscheff did a nice analysis of this a while back where he used xwOBA, demonstrated the difference between Ozzie L & R and the league L & R with and without the platoon advantage and determined that even if Ozzie suffered double the normal platoon disadvantage R on R, he would still have a substantially higher xwOBA RH vs LH against RHP.

Thats using a set of data of right handed hitters that have hit against right handed pitching their whole career.

Not sure if thats the best way to determine if Ozzie should switch or not.

Maybe it is...

Definitely not the best, but it's the only data (I can think of) we have to extrapolate. Even if Ozzie suffers 2x the average platoon penalty it's still well worth the change.

The difference between RHH Albies and LHH Albies is immense.

Also can the residence babies please stop this nonsense that the Phillies are going to win the division?
