I wonder if that means he won't run but he'll have an ally nominate him anyways.
 
I dont know if Scalise can be speaker. He's taken to wearing a mask as if his life might depend on it.
 
But what does this mean for the short and long term future of the House? Why did the Dems let it happen?

Jeffries could've saved him and at least maintained some order. The MAGA folks will not be happy with a more moderate Speaker.

Is this just the Dems adding another battle to the GOP civil war?
 
This has to be one of the most embarrassing political things to ever happen in the history of American Politics.


first the 15 rounds of voting to appoint him as Speaker. Then the embarrassing process of being ousted not a year into your Speakership.

When is comes to burning down the govt, McCarthy has a book of matches while Gaetz carries around a flame thrower.

probably not...Raskin's point is McCarthy was not viewed as different enough from Gaetz to be worth saving.
 
At TCO- I mean it makes a lot of sense ? He wasn’t popular to begin with, got a chance and was removed.

That’s because for the last forty years republicans haven’t served their voters and now that their voters are speaking out they have no clue how to actually govern for the people. Only their special interests.

I certainly don’t see eye to eye with Gaetz on everything, but in this instance, he’s absolutely right. Especially videos 2 & 3 in that thread.
