Laws top 10:
Top 10 prospects
1. Jose Peraza, 2B/SS
2. Mike Foltynewicz, RHP
3. Ozhaino Albies, SS
4. Tyrell Jenkins, RHP
5. Rio Ruiz, 3B
6. Max Fried, LHP
7. Ricardo Sanchez, LHP
8. Braxton Davidson, 1B
9. Cristian Bethancourt, C
10. Manny Banuelos, LHP
Fried is only rated 6th because of his injury. If not for that injury he'd probably be #1 on the list and we never hvae a shot at him. I like the risk that was taken but as I've said numerous times Upton was the one guy I wish we kept.
Also, Walden did not net Jenkins. Heyward did and Walden was just an additional player to account for the difference in value given up.
Look at the value we got for Shreve and Carpenter. Walden was worth more than a percentage of Jenkins.
Walden also had less control than those guys. Thats a huge factor IMO.
I would remove the only. He's injured. That's his new reality.
Of course it is but the Braves obviously are taking the risk that players bounce back from Tommy John relatively easily now and if his stuff is anywhere close to where it was prior to the injury you have a potential TOR starter. Sometimes you have to take risks and I think part of the Wrens tensure that led to his downfal was that he took the safe bet too often in the amateaur/minor league scene.
It's ironic because I was trying to find out who signed Albies after you asked and one search result was a post by you on 7-25-2014 - "It seems that wren and his staff have done a solid job getting g together the start of a nice core of prospects to hit the majors in the next three to four years."

There is no question that the presence of Peraza/Albies will leave a better taste in our mouths over the job that Wren performed. Not sure how the organization segregates the international scouting side from the rest of the amateur scouting. The Braves organization seems very convoluted which can also lead to the argument that while Wren is gone the same problems exist.
Good answer!

I definitely think that's largely the case.
Certainly, its difficult to know who to assign blame or credit to at this point. My main beef with Wren though was the fact that Clark (who is largely credited with the Braves minor league dominance in the late 90's [under Snyder] and 2000's) rushed back to the organization when Wren was fired. There was definitely some personality clashes there with the man who was instrumental in building the Braves. That made me change my feelings on Wren. I was always very supportive of him and felt that Clark just wanted another challenge. I think we learned that was not the case or at least not solely the case.
Or the Braves made him an offer he couldn't refuse and used it to add fuel to their scapegoat fire.
We all perceive what we observe to be in line with what we believe as the truth.
You could be 100% right but I think in this instance you are ignoring the obvious.
I feel this board overrates Walden. I like him a lot, he's very good. But we can easily replace his production IMO, and take Jenkins for him every day of the week.
