Nothing against the kid but Im more of a fan of taking position players as they are much less risk and play everyday. Here is an article that discusses it:

The everyday thing to me doesn't have validity because a pitcher will face more hitters than an everyday player will have plate appearances.

Injury issues are very real for sure.

Awesome pick after doing some reading. You never go for need in the MLB draft. A HS hitter does nothing for us soon, anyway. If you can get potentially the most talented LHP with high high upside, gotta do it.

Every team needs pitching, and I'm a firm believer that you can't win without pitching. Also, I am a firm believer that if you have a surplus of pitchers, you will be able to get hitters.

Brian Bridges said the exact same thing during the game Sunday. They obviously had Allard as their BPA.

Braves should not go away from their strength which is the identification and development of pitching.

Elite everyday players are more valuable than elite pitchers if going by WAR. Of course that is over the course of a full season. Elite pitchers are more valuable come playoff time though so there is that. And pitchers do have a higher bust rate im.
