2016-2017 Off-Season Thread

I've seen Soler mentioned in trade talks, guessing him and other pieces.
 
Rays get Ramos for two years, 12.5 million, with incentives to make 18.5. And Atlanta didn't do this? That's actually stupid.

Yeah, that's a bit lighter then I was expecting. Definitely a better fit in the AL. His agent has told team's he'll be ready in April or May, though that may not be a realistic timeframe of when he can catch. He's going to need to DH quite a bit this year. Nice deal by the Rays to try to rebuild his value.

With his knees he'll need to DH quite a bit.

So doubt he would sign with an NL team.
 
Rays beat writer says they expect Ramos to be ready by June or July. DH at first and then catch when he's ready.

No chance.. I would say, you paid what for a half year of Chapman and now you want to pay me what for Davis? If the Cubs trade just Soler for Davis, I will be shocked and disappointed in Moore.

Agreed they should get more for Davis, but Cubs overpaid for Chapman because they were desperate to win the WS.

Monkey is off their back now.

But if the Cubs get Davis for just Soler, Theo is just toying with other teams. I would expect if it gets done a few more pieces to be involved, if not KC was fleeced.
 
4 years of Soler and all his potential for 1 year of a BP arm? Seems like KC made out pretty well.

But what do I know compared to a bunch of guys that thought the Braves were going to trade for Sale? I'll defer to the geniuses on this one.

yup. I guess the injury concern is more of a concern on KC part. Maybe they know something. You don't trade a pitcher in an inflated market for just fair value... and really less than fair value.
 
ChiSox might trade Quintana to the Nats for what I assume would be a package very similar to the Giolito/Robles package they were going to get for Sale. Then they would target Carson Kelly from the Cards for Eaton.

Talk about an accelerated rebuild. They would probably have the #1 system in the game and ready to compete about the same time the Braves are.

If they trade Frazier, Eaton, and Quintana.... their system will be sick. I don't think we will get Quintana but it would be cool since his brother is in our system.
