2016-2017 Off-Season Thread

I hate potential #3 starters too (what he was thought of at the time).

Top 50 prospect -- consensus.

A nice illustration of how even highly rated prospects should be considered movable if the return is ok. But I still think Wisler has a reasonably good chance of joining the Braves rotation this year and going forward. He's had flashes and putting it together would put in that #3/#4/#5 range. More likely on the lower end, but sometimes guys puts things together.

Is it trying to paint the team in a bad light if it's suggested the Braves sold themselves short by attacking Melvin to Kimbrel? Also Quientin and Maybin have to be factored into the trade as well to get a complete analysis.

I don't think it was a bad trade but the Braves likely could have gotten more if it was just Kimbrel.

Yes, but they really wanted to be rid of Upton.

Let we forget:

2013 446 AB, .184/.268/.289 -1.6 WAR 151k/72H//44BB

2014 582 AB .208/.287/.333 -.5 WAR 173k/108h/57BB

Owed 45 million over 2015, 2016, 2017. Literally one of the worst players in baseball and definitely in the running for worst contract. God bless him he did better in San Diego. As other Braves flops have done.

I wonder if the Boni signing means no KJ, assuming he's available?

Bob Nigtengale reporting that the Braves and Tigers started conversation at the Winter Meetings about a possible Verlander/Victor Martinez trade and continue to have serious talks. Deal hinges on whether or not Braves brass believe Martinez can hold up to be able to catch 110 games the upcoming season.

Is this real? Haven't seen it anywhere. Also. I way victor can catch. He hasn't caught since like 2010(at least more than 20 games) and he's almost 38.

I was just waking up when I read it and was like, wait, what? Then I saw Millwood and took another swallow of coffee and moved along.

Victor Martinez hasn't touched his toes since 2011.

Problem solved.

Kenley Jansen signs with LAD for 5\80.

Sounds like they are close to a deal with Turner for 4 years as well (which is a nice length for them if true)

Rumor I saw was 4/64 for Turner. I'd pay that with the draft pick loss if I'm the Braves. That said he knows the Dodgers and the Dodgers are better. Even with the cost of living issues I assume we'd have to pay more and do 5/75.
