We need to move up. Top 5. That's the goal. Let's do this.

A good position to draft Seth Beer or Alex Speas, though I'm hoping Speas ends up on campus at MSU.

I'm still hoping for a .500 finish. I know it'd hurt our draft position, but it'd be a nice confidence boost for our young players going into next season. I think it would help us signing FA's too.

They probably will not finish .500, but the pitching is too good to completely suck. Wisler was great outside of the 5th inning last night. The fact that all of Atlanta's pitchers are 24 and under is a great sign for the future. Shelby Miller, Julio Teheran, and Alex Wood will be hitting their peak seasons when they open the new stadium.

I'm not sure if you are aware of our luck with young pitchers. They don't work out for us. Going by our history, most of those guys will be out of the league by 2017. We have much better luck with retreads. Best to trade these guys while we can and grab some scrap heap type of guys like Harang.

Yeah, I didn't say it was a realistic goal haha

Yeah, unless some of the younger guys absolutely hit a wall, I don't think were built for either long losing streak or long winning streaks.

Viz looks like he's going to shore up the bullpen a good bit, so that will ease the sting of Johnson's leaving. Short of a wholesale liquidation of the position players, we're probably not going to get too much worse than we are now.

Would be nice to have a protected pick so the Braves can do some serious work in FA without losing a pick.

This is where the Front Office has to be honest and thoughtful IMO.

IF we are thinking of landing a big FA, then we have to look hard at getting that protected pick. We are close. We have guys we can sell. We have young arms we can hide if we need to.
