2016 NFL Draft Discussion Thread

The Cowboys have a lot of needs, but it's hard to be upset getting Elliott. He should have a huge year behind our line. Should be dominant in the run game which will be nice.

Cowboys tried to trade back up into the first round to get Lynch.

And I was REALLY hoping that they'd be able to do that. I really liked him just as well if not better than the "big 2" QBs and especially in the mid-late areas of round 1. I sure hope we don't "settle" for Prescott.

I'd be fine with "settling" for him in like, the 3rd round.
I hope they don't go Hack in the 2nd.

Bears needed a speed guy to get to the QB - hopefully Floyd puts in the work to make that pick worth it. Excited that the Bears will get another good player with their 2nd Rounder - still plenty of talent left.

If I were the Cowboys I'd take Hunter Henry with thier next pick. The #1 TE. Witten is getting up there in years

Did they ever figure out which of his "friends" "accidentally leaked (wink wink nod nod)" that old video of him with the helmet/bong?

Whoever did it should hope they don't get found out. Tunsil should sue just on GP alone and he will have the money to do it.

A 19 year old hitting a bong is quite normal.

And to be put out there literally 15 minutes before the draft starts and on Tunsil's own twitter account. I wonder how many millions that one brief video cost him?

Henry really is pretty good and given Jerry's penchant for 2nd round TEs that we don't really need it wouldn't surprise me, though I want Spence at 34.

If they take a QB any earlier than round 4 I'll be pissed, not that that matters. IMO there isn't a QB left who's worthy of being drafted earlier than round 4 and the Cowboys should pick 3rd in that round so they should be able to get just about anyone they want who's still around.

At least $8M; first tackle went at 6, and Tunsil is clearly the best talent, so at worst he would've gone there.

Apparently Spence is not being considered by the Boys at 34. Still will have a good DL fall to them.

I think it was Jack Del Rio that said something to the affect of you guys may be just learning about stuff like this, but we have been researching these kids for months. Other GMs talked about how the weed wasn't as much of a concern as was not knowing whats going to pop up next for him. Plus, he talked about getting paid at Ole Miss. These teams knew he was an idiot, he was probably going to slide with or without the bong video.

Why would Kelly matter? Of course he went right after Atlanta as expected, but you thought the Falcons would have taken him?

No. Atlanta taking a guy that most thought was projected lower mean others would fall to the Skins. I think we got the best of both worlds though, because we got a potential stud WR and some good DL will be available in round 2 because they all slid. I think the class is so deep with DL that teams just didn't want to take them in the first round because they could get good value later.

If I was the Cowboys, I would take Hack in the 2nd round. Outside of maybe Cook, who else would be available to them that wasn't a longshot developmental pick?

Don't follow this like I used to, but if Hackenburg can get back to where he was as a freshman at Penn State, someone is going to get a very good QB. I think his ceiling is a lot higher than Cook's. It's a classic ceiling v. risk factor choice on these two. I've never been that impressed with Cook, but I was never that impressed with Kirk Cousins either. I must subconsciously hate that shade of green.

Well considering the QBs who are left I think I prefer Hack (at least he was pretty good at some point in his college career even if it was only for one season), but not until at least the 3rd and maybe even the 4th round. If he's gone during round 2 then so freakin' be it. There are other developmental QBs who likely won't ever amount to anything in there who they can get from round 4 on so I absolutely would not even consider not working on the D during rounds 2 AND 3. Of course that's just me and Jerry will likely ignore this advice and do whatever he wants to anyway. ;)
