2016 Presidential Debates Thread [2-13-'16 GOP South Carolina]

I thought the last three on my list were very formidable.

As a (D) Kasich worries me.

Yes, HRC, won the night because she has never invoked Rosie O'Donnell as a prop for misogyny.
That was the front runner

As far as the peoples demographics --- get past whether they have a vagina or a penis or they are pasty white or black as night. They all advocate the same policies. Some more outlandishly than others
What was it Dorothy Parker said about Katherine Hepburn "She ran the whole gamut of emotions from A to B."

I don't care about race or gender... but the left has been shouting from the mountain tops about how they are the party of diversity. Just making a point

Hilary is always a loser. I don't have much respect for anyone who would consider voting for her. She's a slime ball

Of course you care about it. You'd be a fool not to.

Look at exit polls and population shifts - Electorally, (R) is losing at the national level and the state and local level would be the next domino.
How long will mysogynist white males be a majority of the voting public? That ship is boarding and leaving the harbor.

You don't care about race and gender -- my foot

Hilldog certainly very far down my list of ideal candidates for the Democratic Party's nominee, and I will definitely be voting against her in the primaries; but, depending on who the Republicans end up nominating, I could see myself voting for her in the general election. I don't consider myself above "lesser of two evils" voting.

I disagree. I think on paper Kasich and Walker are the best choices.

I absolutely loathe Walker, but—reading the morning-after coverage (I didn't watch the debate)—Kasich took some very reasonable positions. I hadn't read up on him much prior, but he's an intriguing candidate for the GOP; it just seems like the media aren't giving him much chance to end up atop the pile.

More than 24 million viewers tuned in to watch the two-hour prime-time event which featured the top 10 GOP candidates in the running for the 2016 presidential nomination. That makes it the highest-rated primary debate in television history as well as the highest-rated non-sports cable telecast of all time in total viewers.

According to Nielsen Media Research, an average viewership of 24 million for one telecast is more than the combined viewers that watched the top 20 cable networks last week.*

The night’s ratings also eclipsed Game 7 of the 2014 World Series which drew in an average of 23.5 million viewers. *

The Trump factor

Kasich is definitely aiming for Veep slot. Just not enought charisma to be first on the ticket.

I think he's got the charisma, but maybe he lacks the control. His weakness, outside of his liberal positions (The fact the left leaning folks on this board love him isn't just a coincidence), is the fact that at times he can appear a bit too passionate to the point that he appears angry.

I don't see where Kasich is that liberal. Because he took Medicaid expansion dollars for his state? Has much more rational positions on immigration and the criminal justice system?

I don't agree with him on everything, but I've liked him for a while, and I feel like we would actually be in a position to accomplish some things with him in the Oval Office as opposed to some of the other candidates.
