2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Bernie Sanders wants to more than double the minimum wage to $15, and he also wants to end our free trade agreements, which he claims are sending American jobs overseas (see the issues section on his 2016 campaign website). I'd like to hear from Bernie (or his many supporters on this website) why he apparently thinks businesses are not sensitive to labor price increases when it concerns the min wage, but are when it concerns international trade. Not making sense to me...

So you think NAFTA and TPP are good?

Interesting article here...

"Florida Senator Marco Rubio, a Republican, has an estimated net worth of $443,500, and independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who is running against Clinton for the Democratic nomination, are at the bottom of the pack of official candidates.

Sanders, a self-proclaimed socialist and a staunch critic of Wall Street, has an estimated net worth of $330,507, making him the poorest candidate currently in the race."

I think freer trade is never a bad thing, but that's not at all the point I was making.

Sanders apparently thinks having free trade leads to an outsourcing of jobs as businesses look to reduce labor costs. Sanders also apparently thinks doubling the minimum wage would not adversely impact employment, otherwise I'd assume he wouldn't endorse it.

My question is, why does Bernie think corporations that are price sensitive enough to wages that they'll outsource jobs will somehow accept a doubling of the minimum wage at home? Or am I wrong when I assume Bernie doesn't think a doubling of the minimum wage will affect employment (I don't know how he can't believe that when he's telling us businesses are outsourcing jobs to save on labor costs!)?

Bernie is just talking. He knows that Doubling the minimum wage will never get passed but he'll talk about being for it to get votes.

I wonder how much Billary paid Obama to diss Warren like that. He BURIED her.

Don't think it matters much long-term.

Obama owes Bill for campaigning for him 24/7 at the end of the 2012 cycle. Warren can still get into the picture if she wants and make some noise.

And from Obama stealing her moment in the sun in 2008. As soon as Obama caught fire, MSNBC and CNN abandoned her.

I have always seen the Bush brothers as bullies. Anytime someone stands up to them they fold like a cheap suit.

People forget Jeb lost a race for Governor before he won. The one he lost was to a former US Senator the ones he won were vs low profile state personalities. Him standing up to national scrutiny is laughable

I know this is crazy, but I find myself thinking: Jeb hasn't declared yet. Maybe he won't. Because he is just terrible at this

Going to be really interesting to see what the Republicans do here. I count 16 likely candidates already and it might even go up to 20.

I got a chuckle out of this paragraph.

"It is not entirely clear who will be in charge of devising or enforcing the debate criteria — that is, if there are criteria. One member of the national committee panel charged with overseeing the debates said its members had discussed ceding the decision entirely to Fox News."

Only debate question will be, "How much do you hate Hillary Clinton?"

This is going to be hilarious. Literally going to be the hunger games. It's also going to be the last stand for the neoconservative movement having staying power.

It's also going to be funny to see all the candidates avoiding playing the race card with Rubio for fear of not offending hispanics. If any GOP candidate wants any shot at winning the general, they're going to need more than 40% of Latinos to have a chance to win. That's highly unlikely especially if they continue to push the immigration debate. The math is not there, you can't win elections with only white voters anymore.

Also, if Hillary picks Julian Castro to be veep, that's pretty much game over for GOP.

Julian Castro - hmm.

Thought it odd Obama mentioning the Castro Bros of San Antone during the Correspondence Dinner.

When you frame it that way, Bush, Rubio and maybe Paul are about the only guys enough Hispanics might go for. I guess Huckabee's social conservatism could draw appeal from a portion of that voting bloc.

The party is just a mess right now. Giving people like Santorum air time is cringe-worthy. They're going to have to back off the immigration stuff and refrain from making social issues their primary drivers. People's wallets has to be the main talking point.

I agree. Hillary would be silly not to pick a Hispanic running mate.

A Jeb Bush/Susana Martinez combo easily triumphs over a Hillary/Castro duo in a battle of Hispanic authenticity. But I really hope the country doesn't go that route.

According to some of the reports I've read he's just rusty. Hasn't been in electoral politics for 14 years.

Shouldn't that be refreshing?

He's also raised $100MM so far ... and some think $500MM by June.

He'll be fine.
