2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

sturg, I understand why you totally dismiss the ideology of ISIS, because for you, everything has to be caused by American intervention (and behind American intervention is some dark conspiracy, likely led by Jews). What's ironic is you then make fun of those who oversimplify the situation. They oversimplify it one way but you do the same thing in another direction.

Then, you have Julio, who has remarked before that he appreciated the Atlantic article, come along side of you to push back against me. Can't figure out why exactly? It's not like I'm making this hard and fast and false either/or argument. I am saying though, that wisdom and humility, call us to try and understand people on their own terms and take their ideology seriously - in addition to critiquing our own failed policies.

You are reading me pushing American policy out of the situation why exactly? Because I actually point out that others never give a tinker's damn about ideology? What gives? That's weird to me.

Yeah, I do. Because it's an important part of the discussion, but your tendency is to do little but scold folks for their WEIRDness to a point that may border on patronizing. This whole conversation about the video is a case in point. ****, I'm with you about the weird truther vibe and all of the assumptions passed of as fact contained therein. But your comment about the origin of IS (to sturg, I guess) was "have you read the Atlantic article"? I suggested that while the article was a good snapshot of what the core of IS apparently believes, what their (ostensible) goals may be, and their beef with al Qaeda, it was not a historical documentation of their rise. It wasn't intended to be. You kinda brushed that off, no? Sort of an important part of the picture if you're seeking to understand what's going on, isn't it? But you seem to suggest that the Atlantic piece should give us enough insight to understand the whole.

I'm left with this question: if one begins and ends with religion and ideology, what clarity do we then receive? What revelation am I missing?

My impression, which could be mistaken, is that you have. Of course, if that's because you've been banging on the brick wall that is sturg33, you might appreciate what gave me that impression.

Linking to an article on Salon is like linking to an article on Stormfront. I think we both know how those articles will end.

I know how the middlebrow lefty stuff ends. Tell me about Stormfront articles. How do they end? With the hero being unmasked, his plot revealed, and the words "And I would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for those meddling mud people, race traitors, and Jews!"

That is what Salon is reporting. Take it or leave it.

Their track record has been, what they publish is true.
If you can't get past the political bent well, that sucks and you will keep voting for and / or supporting people that send letters to the Ayatollah..

....

This is election season and some pretty off the wall stories will surface.
You too are encouraged to bring them up. As long as they have legs -- little things like supported facts or quotes - you know,

It is mistaken - so, I am asking that you to read my statements here in the broader context, and give me the benefit of the doubt. Yes, I'm banging my head on the brick wall.

Yes I am.

it is not to kill everyone of them, much less every Muslim enemy.

You overblown rhetoric isn't helpful in the least.

Obama wants to spend $4.0 trillion in 2016. House (GOP) budget plan came out a couple of days ago....$3.8 trillion for 2016.

And people wonder why I vote 3rd party.

I want to say two things:

Sturg, I will do your suggestion, don't do anything, let 100's of thousands perish and them have a state on their own and see what happens then. My prediction, a lot of people who died for nothing and a country/state that would terrorize any country in the world, but I will do as you suggest.

Second, Steak Sauce (57) why the large fonts? It makes you look like a child that is begging to be heard. I see it on a board I moderate, they are ridiculed so I drop the font size because of their LOUD typing in that stupid font is not going to change anyone's mind. It would do the opposite, even those who've allied themselves with that poster PREVIOUSLY told him to stop and he didn't and now they attack him. I am not a moderator here just giving you advice, big fonts don't mean diddly squat but pissing off both sides. Just a suggestion.

Come again?

Are you referring to how many people have been killed due to US intervention in the last decade?

It is not quantifiable. To prop up your theory and posts you will say such and such.

Just let them kill people and have their own country. It will not be pretty because of their mindset and it has NOTHING TO DO with the US. They want an Islamic world, period, that is their mandate. Caliphate is their goal, nothing else matters, not even us. When you have other Islamic countries wanting to stop you, that is not a US thing.

If you want to be a Muslim, knock yourself out. I don't want any man made religion in my life.
