2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Before Haley finally spoke up on Monday, the only major Republican figure to unequivocally call for the flag’s banishment was Mitt Romney,

who isn’t facing GOP primary voters in 2016. After Haley joined him, we were treated to the embarrassing spectacle of Bush, Rubio, and Walker

– by most reckonings, the GOP’s three leading candidates – all asserting

that they had agreed with Haley all along. This combination of disingenuousness and spinelessness on a no-brainer issue should disqualify all of

them from the White House.

What some here don't understand is there is a whole nuther world outside of Dumb****istan.
And, more people

This is where redistricting gives the false impression that people actually agree with the Wing-nuts. When in fact it is the prairies and swamps and disillusional people that still think the south will rise again.

Rise again to where ?

You holding Hillary to the same standards?

They should have all simultaneously held join press conference to announce their disdain at the exact same time.

Bush was actually out on this issue well before Haley -- not to mention he should be applauded for reconciling the situation with the flag in Florida ... 14 years ago.

You holding Hillary to the same standards?

why do you think hillary is his favorite? i'm pretty sure she's not (and she's certainly not mine, and she's not the favorite of a ton of young progressives i know).

my mom, a fox news fool, does the same ****. she brings up hillary's bull**** to me like i'm rooting for hillary. i'll root for her over the GOP clowns, sure. but i much, much prefer to feel the Bern.

Does the support for Bernie occur because he's a socialist? Are the folks supporting him supporting him for his socialism economic views? Or something else?

Just wondering if we actually have a bunch of socialists on this board or if there's something else driving the love

57 loves that (D) ... and like it or not Hillary is the poster-child for modern liberals (of any shade).

Don't worry, we'll dump on Bernie if he actually wins a state or two.

Just look at Texas. When they could make some political points from it, they were totally against "big government" Obama was going to invade and lots of other crap, then when the flooding hit they were on their best behavior doing their best "Oliver Twist" impersonation, "May we have just a few million in federal funds to mop up all this water" down here? The list from those on the right who blast any and all social programs is long and distinguished (as long as their bellies are full and their houses aren't underwater) but when they're hurting they change their tune pretty fast, pretty much George Clooney's character in Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

Another win for Obamacare in SCOTUS. Let the right wing media blitz begin.

Roberts the treasonous Chief Justice.

Roberts will be fine.

But Scalia has just been promoted to God-status with his eviscerating 'SCOTUScare' dissent. Legendary stuff.

Not sure what this has to do with my question

Not sure what this has to do with my question

It has to do with (or that was my intention anyway) how many "I hate all government programs/expenditures" turn into "OK, just this once" when they need it, or when it benefits their situation. It was aimed at politician types not our board mates, though I think there are sometimes some crossovers, so to speak, here too.

I'm just wondering if the appeal of Bernie is his socialistic economic views or is it something else

I agree with a lot more of what he says than what anyone else says. I'm not overly worried about the titles placed on it.

except she's really not a liberal. and none of the young liberals i know give a **** about her (confirmation bias, i know).
winning states though really speaks to how good of a candidate someone is. i mean, GW won the election - TWICE! - and he was great! as long as you got that money! wooo american politics freedommmm

except she's really not a liberal.

Stop ... Hammertime. That fallacy set sail about a year ago. Hillary is a foaming liberal, and the Democratic base will amalgamate around her in due time because she is assuredly their best main-stream candidate.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is running as the most liberal Democratic presidential front-runner in decades, with positions on issues from gay marriage to immigration that would, in past elections, have put her at her party’s precarious left edge.

The moves are part of a strategic conclusion by Clinton’s emerging campaign: that it can harness the same kind of young and diverse coalition as Barack Obama did in 2008 and 2012, bolstered by even stronger appeal among women.

Her approach — outlined in interviews with aides and advisers — is a bet that social and demographic shifts mean that no left-leaning position Clinton takes now would be likely to hurt her in making her case to moderate and independent voters in the general election next year.
