2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Bernie please, Trump and Carson is okay.

Why?

They don't lie to people to get votes. Hilary is a blatant liar, Cruz will lie to get votes, Rubio is a robot. Our most qualified is Kasich but he has no charisma, it is like watching paint dry.

In Yeltsin’s own autobiography, he wrote about the experience at Randall’s, which shattered his view of communism, according to pundits. Two years later, he left the Communist Party and began making reforms to turn the economic tide in Russia. You can blame those frozen Jell-O Pudding pops.

“When I saw those shelves crammed with hundreds, thousands of cans, cartons and goods of every possible sort, for the first time I felt quite frankly sick with despair for the Soviet people,” Yeltsin wrote. “That such a potentially super-rich country as ours has been brought to a state of such poverty! It is terrible to think of it.”

Honestly, I wonder how many on the left are hoping Bernie gets squashed before this sort of silliness gets real media scrutiny. The left likes to think it represents the academic, intellectually responsible side of the political spectrum. Bernie's lol-worthy math would damage those claims.

Yeah, for our socialist friends on this site who will refuse to understand the math... let me post it the assumptions their making:

blog_friedman_sanders_plan.jpg

WTF? Per-capita GDP will grow 4.5 percent? And not just in a single year: Friedman is projecting that it will grow by an average of 4.5 percent every year for the next decade. Productivity growth will double compared to CBO projections—and in case you're curious, there has never been a 10-year period since World War II in which productivity grew 3.18 percent. Not one. And miraculously, the employment-population ratio, which has been declining since 2000 and has never reached 65 percent ever in history, will rise to 65 percent in a mere ten years.

I've generally tried to go easy on Bernie Sanders. I like his vision, and I like his general attitude toward Wall Street. But this is insane. If anything, it's worse than the endless magic asterisks that Republicans use to pretend that their tax plans will supercharge the economy and pay for themselves. It's not even remotely in the realm of reality. If it were, France and Germany and Denmark would all be Croesian paradises by now.

A group of stuffy establishment economists says "no credible economic research" supports Friedman's analysis, which "undermines our reputation as the party of responsible arithmetic." Or, in Austan Goolsbee's more colorful language, Sanders' plans have "evolved into magic flying puppies with winning Lotto tickets tied to their collars."

Enough is enough. Everyone needs to get back to reality. This ain't it.

We've got as many crazies on my side as the Rs have on their's. Hillary can have all the charm of an ill-tempered porcupine at times, but she's smart and pragmatic.

As per yesterday, Trump is firmly in the driver's seat. He'll keep trotting the 3rd party thing out there to remind Republicans "Roll the dice with me and we may beat Hillary Clinton. Toss me aside, I run as a third party candidate and Hillary Clinton is the 45th president." He was very impressive in his latest CNN interview. He came across as very magnanimous. His media instincts are so much better than anyone else's in the race on either side and even though I thought he bumbled his post-Iowa reaction, he just knows the moment and his audience and can slide into the right approach to fit those criteria. Kasich stays in until the Midwest is decided. Maybe trying to show his strength as a possible VP candidate. I think Rubio is the only one who can stop Trump. I don't think Cruz can hit the right notes and his reluctance to play well with others (Oops, I meant his unassailable integrity and commitment to principle) is likely to come back to bite him. He only hit the low-to-mid 20s in states that are crawling with the type of religious voters who one would think would flock to him.

Big win for Clinton. I totally misread the Clark County vote. Hillary's people outflanked Bernie among casino workers. Bit surprised Bernie won the Latino vote. Bernie will continue on, but if the dominoes start to fall in the South, it could get steep for him unless Hillary has a major screw-up (which is indeed possible).

Not one Republican candidate has mentioned Flint MI. This is what we could expect if any of them became President.

Here's something for Flint for you

Without government who will solve the water problem in Flint?

What's that Lassie? Government is the one that poisoned the water in Flint! And it was local samaritans that stepped up and fixed it. FOR FREE!!!

Golly gee, that stands to contradict all those claims that libertarians are ignorant, and that without government nothing will get done.

I'd love for 57 to respond to the ridiculous economic projections team Bernie has made...

But I guess the best I'll get from you is something about hoping it really hard and new conversations about ponies and we'll talk costs later

Intelligent group, those Bernie supporters are

Trump wins this thing if it remains at least a 3 person race. He loses if it's a 2 person race. If I'm Rubio or Cruz I've got my people on the horn constantly trying to convice the other that they should work out some kind of deal.

I mentioned in the SCOTUS thread that the pubs need to tread carefully with the Obama judge nomination. Well, I think the Pubs may have screwed up with Cruz in a similar fashion. They treated him like crap because he challenged them and now suddenly the establishment pubs need Cruz to drop out of the race to win the nomination. Rubio needs to promise Cruz a spot on the supreme court to win the election... jmo.

I'm not on the fringe left, but I cannot stand Sanders (or Sanders types for the most part). I talked with a former legislator on Saturday night whom I deeply respect. She is supporting Sanders now and she has her reasons, mostly dealing with the war in Iraq that Hillary voted to support and a couple of decisions made during the Clinton administration dealing with agriculture and welfare reform that bothered her and had a negative effect on the district she represented. Just wanted to mention that to make sure people know I don't despise all of Sanders' supporters. That said, I just get tired of Sanders' "magic wand" crap.

Whole slew of polls came out today

Georgia - Trump slight lead on Rubio, Clinton smashing Sanders
Mass - Trump is killing it, Hillary and Bernie tied
Vermont - Trump with a healthy lead on Rubio, Bernie decimating Hillary.
NC - Both have Trump and Clinton in fairly healthy but not insurmountable leads
Michigan - Pretty healthy lead for Trump and Hillary
Illinois - Same.

ALso came out today were 2 H2H polls first both asking NC residents, one from Survey USA one from Elon

Survey USA has Trump beating Hillary and tieing Bernie, Cruz beating Clinton and losing to Bernie, Rubio Beating Clinton and losing to Sanders, and Elon has Trump losing to Clinton and Sanders, Cruz tieing Clinton and losing to Sanders, and Rubio beating both ofthem.

Not much to gather from the polls. Biggest shocker is Bernie doing well in Mass. I know he's a New England guy but if he pulls Mass then he could in theory turn other states that could be Clinton favorable like Pennsylvania and New York.
