2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

Trump has played it right again.

FOX skips the debate in Utah next week because Trump is bailing out.

Trump says "we've had enough debates".

He's really sticking it to the establishment. Kasich and Cruz were licking their chops at the chance to take him down. But now that he's built a lead, he's playing it safe. Good for him.

Trump and his fervent supporters aren't just going to go quietly if the pubs try and block him from winning the nomination. There will be a revolt.

I see three options:

1) Talk to Trump. Get as many folks as you can into his ear and try to get him to actually become informed enough to qualify to be president, get him to cool down his rhetoric and surround him with legit political names so that a Trump presidency seems more reasonable. Might want to add some restrictions to unilateralism while we're at it. It's actually in Trump's and everyone elses best interest that he actually tries to become informed on you know, what a president's job actually is and what comes with that job. Just a minor necessity.

2) Back Cruz 100%.

3) Hope that Anonymous digs up something on Trump that is finally so absurd that he has no choice but to drop out of the race.

I personally would try one and three first, but if Trump is obviously going to be stubborn then you have no choice but to go with option 2.

Option 1 is not gonna happen.

The allure to Trump is his "outsider" position. If the establishment starts surrounding people around Trump, there's no way Trump can convince people he's not part of the establishment or doing what they tell him.

Trump has positioned himself to basically be where the establishment has to get on their knees.

2) That would be the day when the establishment backs Cruz whom they quietly despise more than Trump.

3) Possible, but if the PACS and insiders dedicated to taking down Trump haven't found anything yet, I don't know what Anonymous is going to find.

Meanwhile @Hawk, I assume the candidate you were consulting with, is now officially out of the race. Whether yesterday or a few weeks ago/last month.

The ammo being used against Trump in the primaries won't effect his loyalist base, but they are going to effect independents and undecided.

I think the GOP has been careful in which attacks they go at with Trump. They are only throwing small bones, but if they get desperate enough they'll bring out the big guns to take him down. And when that fails and he still wins the nomination, it will be more than enough make the middle of the road people see how nuts he is.

Even if Trump pivots to the center, he's gone so far right just to win hte nomination, that a shift to the center just would look unrealistic and would probably piss off his extremist supporters more than anything else.

That, and nobody really wants to hear Kasich talk about Ohio for 2.5 hours.

But I was surprised that after Kasich pulled out of the debate that Cruz didn't insist that he still get to use the time.

Kasich's chance now lies solely with the convention. He's the independent voters' dream, but there's not going to be a lot of independent voters in the crowd that gathers in Cleveland on July 18.

I was thinking Cruz might challenge Sanders to a debate on Fox News. That would be an interesting debate. I could see both candidates going for it too.

Ok, this made me chuckle...
