2016 Presidential Primaries [ SUPER TUESDAY | 3-1-'16]

And "whoa"? Really? That's the rhetoric used in African-American churches (for Ds) and in Fundie churches (for Rs) all the time.

I'm not sure about that. The destruction of the republic? The conflation of the Constitution with God's will? I dunno.

I'm not on any kind of Trump bandwagon. I have decidedly mixed feelings about tax-exempt status for churches that are overtly political. It's a thorny speech issue.

No, he is not. He's the product of populist, poor-middle-class angst. There's a world of difference between say Ben Sasse (where I am) and an unprincipled populist. His vacillating positions and growing support even in the midst of it reveals this isn't about ideological purity.

More of an issue of temperament than policy.

An uncompromising temperament

Where compromise is referred to as "politically correct"

Trump has no policies. At least none that I can discern

Interesting read from this morning's Politico. One of my cynical sayings after a life in politics is that whoever is at the top is usually standing on a pile of dead (politically, not physically) bodies. The problem for Cruz was that the bodies he was standing on weren't dead yet.

In the aftermath, I don't think Cruz's team will never get enough credit for running a really fantastic on-the-ground operation. But Trump is nuclear and Cruz's approach was a water pistol by comparison. A SuperSoaker for sure, but still a water pistol. Using the baseball analogy, Cruz played small ball with the best of them, but as Fritz Ostermueller once said (recounted by Ralph Kiner), "Home run hitters drive Cadillacs and singles hitters drive Fords."

Proof that Donald Trump hates women:

With a heavy sigh, I do this...............................

Indiana Winners and Losers:
Winners:
Donald Chump: Unbelievable. Nomination all but wrapped up.
Bernie Sanders: He won Indiana
Hillary Clinton: She is still going to be the Democratic nominee and gets to face Chump.

Losers:
Ted Cruz and John Kasich: They fought the good fight. Just victims of the fact so many were duped by a con artist.
The Republican Establishment: The GOP as we have known it is dead. The likes of John Boener, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and others have blood on their hands.
The American People: The two of the most despised people to run for President facing off against each other in November.

Hillary has a water pistol too.

As you can probably tell by my prior post, 24 hours later, I'm still mad about how this turned out. Still can't believe how many let fear and anger guide their voting choice. Now, I'm not planning to skip the general election, because I don't believe in sitting out major elections. Only thing I do know right now about how my ballot will be cast in November is that I won't be voting for Hillary Clinton.

Ever since I registered to vote, in every local, state, and national election, I have voted Republican. I have voted that way because they have been the one I have sided, based on my beliefs and convictions. Right now, the GOP, as we have known it, is dead. I don't know if it can be brought back, but it won't be with the likes of Boehner, McConnell and Graham. I'd even include Paul Ryan in it. I know much has been said about Ted Cruz, but when someone like Graham jokes about him being shot on the Senate floor and Boehner calling him "Lucifer", that is not uniting. The Democrats know how to circle the wagons and support. The Republicans are letting pride and ego get in the way. And it may have cost them The White House.

For the first time, I am reconsidering my allegiance to the Republican party.

I think Graham's comments about Cruz, however impolitic, say more about Cruz than they do about Graham. Where there's smoke, there's fire. Cruz really is that bad, and is despised by his "colleagues" with good reason.

Boehner and Graham and the like may be hated by the base, but for better or worse, they represent a path to viability for their party. The Ted Cruz contingent is just a path to further marginalization.
