2016 Trade Deadline Rumors and Moves

My prediction for today are....

1. Acquiring McCann and cash for Ian Krol, Jim Johnson and a low level pitching prospect. The Yankees seem to want to try and win now although trading Miller and Chapman. Krol and JJ will allow them to do so.

I think thats all we do today. We will be more active come August waiver deadline.

I would not be opposed to that depending on how much Money NYY kicks back to us

Markakis is perfect August trade bait. The market is much thinner and teams can convince themselves that a veteran lefty bat like Markakis might put them over the hump.

Good guy off the bench most likely. His problem is he can't play defense anymore and doesn't have any versatility, so that could limit things somewhat.

For Markakis' power numbers to go up... he needs to go to a big spacious park where more of hits will find gaps.

I don't think he's going to hit homers anywhere

I just remember after we traded for Markakis, someone posted a chart showing how many of Nick's HR's at Camden Yards wouldn't have been HR's in Turner Field. He did hit 38 doubles last year and is on pace for about the same this season. Turn 5 flyouts into 5 HR's and he's got a 400ish slg %

He has 5 homers. 1 of them is a no doubter at Wrigly. One would have been out of 23 parks. One would have been out of 17 parks. Then he has 2 lucky ones, that would have been out of 2 and 4 parks.

He still hasn't hit a ball 400 feet (unless he hit 400 feet and stayed in park, which is unlikely)

It will be interesting to see if there is a reverse effect with Kemp moving to a more hitter friendly park.

I'm not sure what debate yall are in the middle of, but I feel like Nick has hit the ball off the wall a lot this season.

markakis/Kemp platoon in LF would probably be better than most of the LFs we have had out there since Gant. Not better than Klesko or Upton, but not bad. Just put 1/3 of the payroll in one position.

Coppy told Jon Morosi yesterday the same line of there being no way they are trading Teheran today.

If Hellickson gets a team's top 5 prospect today, I wonder what Teheran could've had?

I don't think he really thought we were going to be competitive this year.

He obviously was saying that to keep fans expectations low.

Agree.

He didn't think we'd compete.

But I do think they thought we were going to in the 70s for wins. And that worries me.

I'm still in the trade Teheran camp if they can get 2 of a team's top 5 prospects (of a good farm system) along with some other pieces. I hope the Kemp move along with keeping Teheran isn't about putting butts in seats next year.

The seats may not come next year especially since the team plays their first 10 games on the road against solid teams like the Mets, Marlins, and Pirates.

Heyman: reason braves like mccann is obvious: great clubhouse guy/leader for team that will rely on young pitching going forward

These rumors aren't going away.

I don't even think that either.

They knew we were going to suck but had a window to draft well and sign well. They knew the big dogs were not gonna be big spenders this International Signing Period, so they lined up all their ducks in a row to get Maitan. They knew the Mets, Marlins, and Nats had better talent in the division, and that we still had young pitchers who hadn't proven themselves.

They are fasttracking our position prospects to be up next year (Albies, Swanson).

I have no doubt, they never wanted to compete or improve much this year compared to last.

If we get McCann and keep Markakis and frenchy, we won't be very good, but we'll have one hell of a clubhouse #consolation

Had Olivera been the guy we thought, FF not started ice cold, and inciarte not gotten injured early, we might have been a lot better this year.

That lineup would be horrible. Mac and Kemp at least gives us pop.

If we get Mac, Kake and Frenchy have to be gone though.
