It doesn’t matter if the kid is dumb not to take the money.
The Braves should stop quibbling over saving a little bit of money and the chance to sign another 3rd round type talent and just go ahead and sign the best guy in their draft.
The world won’t end if they don’t but I find it difficult to follow the argument that braves are better off signing none of their remaining picks to get the 9th pick next year.
But hell if the kid caves and they get an extra signing that’s swell.
don’t sign the best player in your draft over 900k. Sounds like a brilliant move.
So we’ll add basically zero impact talent to the organization this year by not signing Stewart and then our international limitations. Yikes.

The big annoying part to me here is if he doesn't sign, we lost all the bonus money we could use to sign the other 2... even if you have to sign him for higher than it will take to sign the other 2, why not still sign him since you lose the money anyways? The only answer I feel would be the physical was a train wreck which seems odd. Someone is playing chicken here...
They found something on the physical and decided to try and save some money. They made an offer “just” high enough that they thought he couldn’t refuse. This is ridiculous on both sides and it hacks me off.
If they had BIG concerns, they wouldn’t offer him 4 mil...they just wouldn’t. This is just them being tight and hoping to take the extra cash and add another player.
You don’t try to squeeze your top ten pick.
Would this mean the Braves have an extra $5M in the MLB budget at the deadline?

To my understanding it’s use it or lose it.
I’m pretty sure they have to offer 4 million in order to get a draft pick next year. If they offer less they would lose the 9th pick next year as well. So it might not be about them quibbling over 900k as it is they are lowballing as much as possible to retain next years rights.
What I mean is the Braves operating budget from Liberty Media included ~$5 or $6million for this pick.
If we don't use that money here, I wonder if AA would have a bigger payroll to work with to improve the MLB roster
(I know about the draft rules)
Wait, so we lose Stewart and then drop from #8...to #9 also next year?? Perfect.

Right but if we offer less than 4 million, regardless if he accepts or not, we don’t get that pick either
