2018: The Year Of The Venezuelan Trout

Since you were so obviously right about the extension talks breaking down and AA deciding to spend those funds on Bourjos and Flaherty???

They didn't have any talks *sshole - Acuna said it himself. Guess he should've checked with the folks at FanGraphs to see what they thought before telling reporters that yeaterday.

Like I said, stick to menial appraisals or whatever mindless work you do. Leave the thinking to those capable.

I've heard of that guy.

This is what I was going off when I posted that.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th in the park his Dad built

I see upon further review that it was Vlad's HOF career, not Olympic Stadium to which you were referring. You might want to throw in a "where" in the middle of the bolded area for me and my fellow dumb asses.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th in the park his Dad built a HOF career where they're trying to land a new franchise wearing Pop's number?

It's romantic rather than numeric, but those are things that create legends too.

It's spring training.

Bump to the top, hopefully people dont freak out if he has a slow start.

Ronald is batting .421 with 1 HR, 4 RBI, and 1 SB in 22 PA.

BB%: 13.6%

K%: 18.18%

The guy is elite. The cream of the crop. The Venezuelan Trout.

BB and K rates by level:

2017 A+: 126 PA, 6.3% BB rate and 31.7% K rate

2017 AA: 243 PA, 7.4% BB rate and 23% K rate

2017 AAA: 243 PA, 7% BB rate and 19.8% K rate

2018 Major Leagues: 41 PA, 7.31% BB rate and 19.51% K rate

Has anyone else noticed Ronald's batting stance is kind of similar to Trout's?

First 10 games, Ronald is faring well when compared to his American doppelganger.

BB%: advantage Trout
K%: advantage Acuna
ISO: advantage Acuna
wRC+: advantage Trout

Home run rates are similar. Acuna is 1 per 22.5 PA. Trout's was 1 per 21.3.

wOBA is similar: Acuna is .395. Trout was .409.

BUT

Trout had a .383 BABIP, whereas Ronald has a .344 BABIP.

Ronald is 0-8 against the Giants with 0 K and about 6 smokers.

I mean, this is nuts. The guy is unbelievable.

It's early but his raw ability has certainly lived up to the hype.

This is Ronald's 2018 versus Trout's 2012.

Ronald's O-Swing %: 32.6%
Ronald's Z-Swing %: 75.4%
Ronald's O-Contact %: 53.6%
Ronald's Z-Contact %: 93.9%
Ronald's Contact %: 79.2%

Trout's O-Swing %: 26%
Trout's Z-Swing %: 55.1%
Trout's O-Contact %: 71%
Trout's Z-Contact %: 87.6%
Trout's Contact %: 81.8%

Is that comparing to Trouts late season debut? I don't know if that's fair as many thought Trout was fatigued from a long season at this point. Acuna might have a late season fade too. Especially if he does a lot of running on the basepaths.

No, it is Trout's 1st full season.

% of balls hit "Medium" or "Hard"

2012 Mike Trout: 85.1%

2018 Ronald Acuna: 85.3%

This is scary. I mean.

Acuna is a huge beast. Early returns basically confirm what everyone saw in the minors.

Will he be Trout? Almost certainly not, Trout is on pace to go down as possibly the greatest ever. Does he look like he’s going to be a massive stud for a long time? Yes. Yes he does.
