2018 Trade Deadline ROSTERBATION

Personally, I think the names in that Archer trade sound better than the actual players. Glasnow is a pen arm, Meadows started off on fired, but for the most part, has been underwhelming. Too early to write either off...but we could have easily beaten that offer if we wanted to.

Exactly what I meant when I mentioned the bandbox part. I would certainly hope he'll improve with the move - just something I think is worth keeping an eye on.

Newcomb > Glasnow.

Glasnow's walks per 9 over 5 in all three MLB stints. Have been near 5 per 9 in his AAA stints.

You though Newcomb was bad with the walks...

I am not a fan of those players, but in terms of value, it was a lot if that makes sense.

The Braves offer probably centered on Fried. When the Pirates came in with Glasnow and Meadows it was up to the Braves to best that....which means Newk plus another 50/55 that is close to the majors.

I don’t think the Braves could have realistically beaten the Pirates offer with assets they deem expendable.

Maybe -- I can't see the rationale for swapping Newcomb and Gausman for the Braves though.
