2018 Trade Deadline ROSTERBATION

You have to be some pretty cheap MFers to balk on 4 million in a contending season.

Considering how much AA continues to value defense, Adams and Murphy didn't really seem to fit the bill - he's constantly said that finances weren't a concern (whether that's true or not, who knows?).

Do wonder if he might claim McCutchen and play Acuna in CF though. Balances the lineup if you put him (McCutchen) between Freddie and Nick and your left-handed bench addition becomes Ender (who comes in to play defense late with Ronald or Cutch sliding over to replace Nick when the situation warrants it).

He values defense so he gets McCutchen? We need a left handed bat, preferably one who plays infield, so he gets a right handed bat who only plays outfield?

I don’t follow.

McCutchen in a corner isn't bad.

Was a little surprised AA passed on Murphy, but where was he going to play him to get him ABs? He's terrible at 2B, and was an even bigger butcher at 3B. Adams weakens you defensively no matter where you put him. No one disagrees that it'd be great to add a left-handed bat, but adding one that only pinch-hits doesn't help much - pretty tough to go to one of those guys late and keep their bats in the lineup for extra innings if it means taking out Acuna/Markakis/Johan and giving back the runs they might get you.

The guy we've needed all along is playing 3B for the Brewers and we're not getting him.

Whoever doesn't play among Charlie, Camargo, or Dansbae can be our defensive sub. LH bat is a big need and whether he can field any position competently or not really shouldn't be a concern. You aren't getting a good hitting and good fielding LHH on waivers. You're gonna have to sacrifice one category and we should prefer it to be defensively.

I get the disappointment at not landing someone like Murphy, but where would he play on defense? He hasn't played much 3B for the past few years and that would be the only place where he would really fit for us.

At this point the LHH the Braves acquire probably won’t be playing much defense. All he has to do is take 5 PAs a week off the bench vs RHP.

Unless the Braves get Donaldson I can’t think of anyone that could possibly push Camargo to the bench. Are there any other guys out there who are potentially available?

With 6 weeks left, if you go with your 5 PAs a week, that would've come out to $100,000 a PA for Murphy
