2018 Trade Deadline ROSTERBATION

OMG - the horror!!!

The fact that you think anybody gives a *hit about your opinion of them is hilarious.

And yet here you are...responding to my post...

Please write us another informative blog post about who the Braves should acquire in trade....if you can squeeze it in between your busy day of taking pictures of $200k properties.

For reference, the Tigers got Fulmer and Cessa for 2 months of Cespedes in 2015. Cessa wasn't much, but Fulmer was a Top 50 guy. I have to think that will be the approximate price for Donaldson, and Machado will be even more expensive.

So the Braves are looking at something like...

One of the FV 55 pitchers, plus one of the FV 50 pitchers for Machado.

One of the FV 50 pitchers, plus a FV 45 lottery ticket for Donaldson.

2-3 of the FV 40/45 lottery tickets for Beltre or Mous (similar to what JDM cost last year).

I wouldn't give up a FV 50 pitcher to upgrade 3B for 2 months, but I would gladly give up a grab bag of 40s and 45s for 2 months of Mous or Beltre...if the Braves are still in contention in August, obviously.

Not sure about Donaldson. His injury and not elite performance combined with impending free agency could push his price down quite substantially.

But overall, I agree. Beltre makes the most sense from a cost standpoint. But the Rangers would likely have to pick up half the remaining contract or more, which means a better prospect going back their.

Not sure how much payroll they left to make in season trades, I'd love to see us work out a deal where we get Beltre, Hamels, and a little cash to offset and they take McCarthy who they should be able to easily flip for prospects as well.

the logic is to upgrade where you are weak...third is the most obvious weakness

It doesn’t hurt you give the free agent a sense of what you are about so that maybe you create a comfort level. It might make a difference.

Playoff appearance would be worth a ton of money.

I'm glad you keep bringing this up. You'll be the next person featured in my sig.

Since it will make you feel superior, go ahead. I can see he's not got the batted ball profile to support anything close to his current results, so I'm not sure what you'll reveal. I'm joined by the vast majority of Chop Country in two simple, self-evident conclusions: 1) Albies luck will run out; 2) you're an asshole.

Not eligible if you trade for him midseason

I think I used to know that.

I guess what you do then is tell him so long and move on with life.

I’m not so in love with prospects so as not to be able to part with them.

I don’t think a half season of any player should fetch a ton but machado might cost something interesting.

3. You’re a clueless moron

That makes sense.

The other variables are:
1. Who wants 3B besides us? Everyone wants Machado but there are not a lot of 3B or DH holes right now. Maybe this drives the price down.
2. We have no money. If we have to ask them to eat the salary does that drive the price up or move us to Mous only?
3. Donaldson is block baby Vlad. I know he could DH or play 1B. But do they look to move him for something to get Vlad up? Do they want Donaldson to block him for service time reasons?

1. Contenders below the Braves in terms of 3B WAR: Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers. The Dodgers will likely get Turner back soon-ish, but I could see the Sox and Yanks acquiring a 3B rental. There is no way the O's trade Machado to an AL East team, so they will be picking between Mous, Beltre and maybe Donaldson. With all those RHed thumpers, the Yanks should be all over Mous to round out the lineup. I'm guessing the Sox will not pull the plug on Devers this season.

2. The Braves HAD no money when they projected < 2.5M in attendance. The recent success may have increased projections to 2.5M+. Is that enough to take on $6M for Beltre? No idea, but it's at least plausible. If not, then yes, the Braves would have to increase the offer to get the other team add cash, but ~$5M in prospect value isn't crushing by any means.

3. I don't know much about the Jays, but if they trade Donaldson that means they fell out of contention. If I were a Jays fan, I would be pretty pissed if they started Vlad's clock because they promoted him at the end of a non-contending season.

We don't need a third baseman this year. Camargo is fine.

Get another high leverage bullpen arm (herrera) and roll the dice.
