I'd be fine signing him to a minor league deal or something and letting him try to figure things out in AAA. I mean, would there be a downside to that?

Sucks if they get them both. We could really use both players and we could beat a Milwaukee deal pretty easily, imo.
 
Wheeler would be interesting. With only one year left he shouldn't be too expensive and there's an outside chance he'd sign a favorable extension to be back home in Smyrna.

So instead of the defense mechanisms, which I understand could be easily triggered by your arch enemy on here, maybe try to better your understanding of such things so that your posts will have more merit. Or don't. Its whatever.

And you (the group you lovingly refer to as "us") don't seem to understand that while EVERYBODY loves playing armchair GM, many of "us" could care less about making things line up with your valuation charts, etc.. No one's getting a raise here because their trade proposals or interest in a particular player fits neatly into your formulae that will no doubt give you a slam-dunk World Champion. Much of the information you guys use is reliant upon things working out that are completely out of anyone's control. TOR arms with $.10 heads like Folty never working out, 18 year olds developing great secondary offerings or power, etc.. You want to grade all these things on "Future Value" - the problem with all that is that you simply don't have any idea whether they will turn into anything resembling what you project for any number of reasons (including injuries you can't possibly project).

Many of "us" could care less whether we receive straight A's when your crowd grades our proposals, and to be honest we think it's pretty entertaining to sit here and laugh while watching you fall all over yourselves tell us how wrong we are when the truth of the matter is you don't have any better idea which prospects are going to work out than anybody else does - for every sure-fire TOR arm you hang high FVs on, there's a Dereck Rodriguez that comes out of nowhere that you scramble to tell everyone you "knew would succeed" even though you never mentioned his name.

For someone who claims, "I don't care what you think about my stupid ideas", you sure do spend a lot of time coming up with them and defending them. You have a blog devoted to documenting your terrible ideas (that you no longer have a link to in your sig due to how terribly your "ideas" are received here), and you expect anyone to believe you don't care whether or not those ideas are sound? Seriously?

Just a defense mechanism you're using to make yourself feel better. Clown. As usual.

The biggest problem Greg's having is physical (his hip). They rushed him back from the DL stint trying to get value out of the contract, and he's still not completely healthy. His hip problem is preventing him from geting fully into his turn and he's unable to clear it on release. He's been seeing a chiropractor, but needs to be shut down for at least 2 weeks.

Obviously that would keep him from providing any immediate help, but if someone can get him for nothing and give him until mid- to late-August to get healthy he could provide value at that point.

Somebody's (contenders) going to take a flier on him, the question for me is who?
