2018 Trade Deadline ROSTERBATION

This is exactly what i am thinking how stupid is to help other team when we are the ones supposed to go all in. Specially giving Allard.

Gray has been as good as ever outside of Yankee stadium. The problem is, they play half their games at Yankee stadium. Gray is a good, young, controllable starting pitcher that we can likely get at a discounted rate. That's why we would do this deal. The Yanks gave up quite a bit more than Allard just 1 year ago to acquire Gray.

I get your logic. I just can’t get excited about a guy that is struggling this year and missed a lot of starts the two prior years. I’m afraid gray has past his prime.

You sure home-road splits are that useful for making trade decisions? I think in the case of both Hamels and Gray their overall numbers are a better indicator than the home or road numbers

When home parks are extreme, yes I do. His other peripherals are solid also, with a FIP nearly a full run lower than his ERA.

LOL, the "Camargo moves to utility role" articles are coming out! I really hope the Braves get Beltre just to see what our resident hero poster says about it haha.

"acquiring Beltre would give Atlanta a right handed bat and another experienced voice in what is a young clubhouse. The move would also potentially free Camargo to move back to a utility role"

Camargo is not a 45 grade player no matter how much you want him to be. To say something like that makes you stupid. Checkmate.

Do you even know what a 45 grade player is?

Yes I do. Camargo isn't one of them.

Sorry hero, a bench player in the utility role is the definition of a role 45 guy.

I can’t wait to quote this after the article of Camargo moving to a utility role is written lol.

It's happening! I can't wait for the hilarity haha!

Come on man, I think we have enough data on Camargo to know that he's perfectly capable of being an above average MLB 3B. If Dansbae was hitting better, I really doubt we'd be looking into Beltre. As it is, I'm sure AA realizes our offense could stand a boost and Beltre appears to be one of the cheapest options to do that.

Keep grasping at those straws. Camargo isn't a 45 no matter how much you want him to be. Keep bringing the derp. Btw, Camargo is outdoing Beltre this year so why would he be benched? Camargo is the 3rd best defender in baseball at third base. You shouldn't be taking Talking Chop articles too seriously

Archer is the exact type of player that AA has been saying he would use assets on instead of rentals. I could see Archer coming to the NL and dominating, especially on a good you team.

I know I'm the oddball on this, but I've never understood the fascination with Archer. I know his peripheral numbers say he should be better, but he has a track record of that now. He's an outlier.

Under performance relative to peripherals is small

Career numbers: 3.69 ERA 3.48 FIP and 3.45 xFIP

This year there is a bigger gap but likely just a small sample thing.

Even when a pitcher under-performs peripherals over a multi-year period I would still bet on the peripherals. Anibal Sanchez is Exhibit A. He was unlucky for three straight years before this year. Don't bet against the peripherals. Bet on luck normalizing.
