2019 Braves vs Phillies By the Records

I just think the pressure the Phillies would be under if we sweep would be immense; the type of pressure that breaks teams.

I want to take 2 out of 3 where the 2 we take are really close and the game we lose is an off game.

That way Gabe Kapler can stay as manager for much longer.

Here is another perspective being that the season is halfway done::

Phillies remaining games vs NL east teams..includes this series 3 games

Vs braves: 13 games (including a stretch of 7 games with 2 vs Boston sandwiched in between Sept 9-19)
Vs Mets: 9 games
Vs Nationals: 8 games (including a 5 game series Sept 23-26 due to a rain out)
Vs Marlins: 6 games

They still have 4 vs Dodgers, 3 vs Cubs, 2@ Boston, and 3 @ cleveland

Braves remaining schedule vs the NL east

Vs Phillies : 13 games as mentioned
Vs Mets: 9 games
Vs Nationals: 14 games
Vs Marlins: 10 games

We will also have 3 @ Milwaukee, 3 @ Minnesota, and 3 VS dodgers in Atlanta.

The 14 games against the Nationals are going to a pain in the @$$. Hopefully we can at least split 7-7. The Marlins (which we're 8-1 against so far) aren't a joke right now either.

I say the Phillies' schedule is a bit more favorable.

Agreed but if we split the rest of the season series vs the Phillies and nationals, it makes the math a lot easier to win the division

Now that we are in the second half and the Phillies are going full speed in reverse, I thought I’d compare us to the Nationals

Braves overall record is 57-37

Vs east: 22-14
Vs central: 17-9
Vs west: 14-12 ( when is the last time we had a winning record vs the west?)
Vs AL: 4-2

Vs RHP: 43-30
Vs LHP: 14-7

The Nationals overall record is 49-43 (7 GB)

Vs east: 27-18
Vs central: 5-11
Vs west: 10-11
Vs AL: 7-3

Vs RHP: 39-31
Vs LHP: 10-12

The Nationals have a favourable schedule towards the end of the season, however, they have a tough schedule in July

July 18-21 4@ Atlanta
July 22-25 4 vs Rockies
July 26-28 3 vs Dodgers
July 29-31 3 vs Atlanta

Where does this narrative that the Nationals have a tougher schedule come from? The Nationals have 44 game remaining against teams with a record at or above .500 with only 26 games against teams with a losing record.

We have 34 games against teams at or above .500 and 34 games against teams with a losing record.

Of all the "easy" games remaining, this is how each team's schedule breaks down:

Washington: 4 against Baltimore, 6 against Miami, 4 against the Pirates, 3 against the Reds, and 3 against the Giants. They also get the Mets for 6, but I don't consider them as bad as the first 5 teams.

Braves: 4 against the Royals, 4 against the Reds, 7 against Miami, 4 against Toronto, 3 against the White Sox, and 3 against the Giants. We also get the Mets for 9 games.

Give me our schedule going forward every day of the week.
