2019 MLB Draft Thread

I don't know much about the draft. It is very complicated with the money games and the comparisons between college and Hs kids.

I do think this is a critical draft because we have 2 first round picks, no first round pick last year and I don't think we'll be drafting high for a while.

I really, really hope that Wallner will be available for us at some point in the draft. He's exactly the type of college power corner that I think we need to focus on next year. The dude has one of the best baseball bodies I've ever seen for power hitting. He's from Minnesota, so obviously he took on the Paul Bunyan nickname once he got down here.

Good to see MLBPipeline has 50+ guys with a FV of 50+ haha.

FG has 12 guys at FV 50+: https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/the-board/2019-mlb-draft?type=0&team=

With picks 9 and 21 there is a chance the Braves could punt enough other picks to get 2 of those top guys, or punt all picks but #9 and get Rutschman to fall if he is still the consensus top guy.

Gonna take a shot in the dark here and guess that most of those FV will change. Its outright ridiculous to use FV for prospects on the upper minors and draft picks. Also going to assume the Braves scouts dont agree on a lot of fangraphs rating. Why should teams even have scouts if fangraphs ratings are so great.

get ready for 2 high school pitchers.

Pipeline's early mock had us taking Brennan Malone at #9.

Kinda like Will Holland at #22 - need to continue getting SSs in the system behind Dansby. Matthew Lugo might be a better fit as one since he's a high schooler, but might be a reach at #21 and may have to move off the position - Holland's plenty good enough defensively to stick there.
