2019 Trade Deadline Thread:

Passan- Some Mets information, per sources. The plan is to hold on to Marcus Stroman, not flip him. They are increasingly unlikely to sign Zack Wheeler to a contract extension. The likelihood is strong they deal at least one of Wheeler and Noah Syndergaard. They’ve hijacked the market.

Go get Wheeler, AA.

But Stroman is a ground ball pitcher and the Mets have a independent-league caliber infield defense.

Can't see Braves going for another rental.

FYI, report from a writer on the scene said Blue Jays clubhouse was closed after the game and loud voice or voices were heard outside by the waiting media. Gee, wonder who might be unhappy about going to the Mets?

I’m honestly amazed that someone of your impeccable taste has even watched that movie.

That movie came out when I was 13, and I even knew it wasn’t worth watching back then. Still haven’t seen a single scene from that movie.

Are you mocking me?

So are the Mets thinking if they take the competition off the market then they can get even more from what they are selling?

Honestly they kinda do control the market.

Stroman off the market, Bumgarner/Bauer likely staying put. Doesnt seem Boyd gets traded.

That leaves what, Ray/Minor/Wheeler/Thor.

Not a ton of options out there.

Teams won’t be held prisoners. They will just move on. The Mets are playing a risky game of that is their strategy
