2019 Trade Deadline Thread:

Ground breaking trades for the Braves such as Alibes/Riley to Angel's for Pulijos.

Don’t know if anyone else is a member of the tomahawk talk FB group but I just had someone proclaim that we need to trade Waters to make room for Camargo in RF. Mentioned nothing about a return.

What do we think about a castellanos platoon with Neck? Would that D be too bad with Riley/acuna/castellanos. But the offense against a lefty would be scary good.

Word is that the braves were among the teams that had Scots at both of Stromans and Minors last starts...

Also word that Stroman could be dealt before his next start

11 days before the deadline and i'm not even sure what teams are actually selling.

I'd love Stroman but i think he'd cost Waters and i dont know if i'd do that.

Still think "The Move" has to be for a pen piece - IF they're not going after someone to start Game 1 of a playoff series.

Stroman's just not that guy IMO. I understand why the numbers folks don't like MadBum as that guy, but think he probably fits that bill before Stroman. Greinke could be that guy, but at what cost? You're trying to make a deep run here - if you could use the same pieces to get MadBum or Stroman, I'd take Bumgarner. I don't give a *hit about the value charts. You're trying to add someone to make 6 playoff starts - which one of those two guys has the better track record?

Not saying I would pass on upgrading the rotation if AA can do it, but the pen needs to be addressed first. I'd be OK with hoping Folty and/or Gausman return to form in the next month if the pen was significantly improved. I like Stroman just fine, but you can make the argument that you'd start both Soroka and Keuchel in a playoff series before him. If you're going to get Stroman AND Giles and another pen piece, that's a different story. This pen simply isn't good enough to make anyone feel comfortable against a good offense.

Maybe we'll all be pleasantly shocked and AA convinces Folty and Gausman that this team has a legitimate shot to win it all with Soroka, Keuchel, and Stroman starting in the playoffs with the two of them coming out of the pen and slamming the door - I just don't think he can.

Who says AA cant get a SP and a bullpen piece. How much do BP pieces on the last years of their deals cost anyway, maybe a 40FV type and filler.

Didn't say he can't - simply saying that we've got a chance to improve the rotation from within with pieces we already have in Folty and Gausman. We DON'T have those pieces in the pen.

We might have those pieces. I wouldn’t discount what we have already in house. Weigel. Clouse. Webb. All could be diamonds we have been looking for. We have already seen Webb.
