2022 MLB Draft Thread

Not our first rounders. That's what I was referencing. A lot of uninspired results there.

Langaliers just won the Futures Game mvp. Cusick helped net Olson. Shuster looks like he’ll contribute at the MLB level.

Not sure what would inspire you.

MLB Draft isnt like NFL draft. You have a draft pool, cant just draft BPA every pick. But i wanna see what the rest of the draft and how underslot Murphy is.

I'm sure he still thinks Wright sucks

Wright's the only first round pick in recent years I like. I think Langeleirs is an average mlb catcher. Cusick and Shuster are meh. Anderson was never gonna be more than a middle of the rotation guy taken in the top 5. Shewmake is a utility player.

It was a miracle we got Wright.

Yet you crapped on Wright from day 1 and never let up... I'm glad you are also magic handwaving the other guys as bad too even though its just your hunch. Your arguments would be pretty awful in court mr. lawyer

An average MLB catcher is an awesome result for a 1st round pick.

To be clear, I don't love the pick but I'm willing to be open

I'm with you—I wasn't instantly thrilled, but I'm not going knee-jerk doom & gloom either. Most of the players I'd hoped the Braves would take didn't fall to them; meanwhile, Murphy has some pretty good measurables going for him, and fits the Anthopoulos-era model (two-way player, trending up, room to develop further)—except he's a prep player, not a college player, which is what a lot of folks were clamoring for.

Plus, as mentioned, we still need to see how the rest of the draft plays out to fully evaluate.

Read Murphy's curve spin rate is 2,488. If it stays there it would be a tick below average for an MLB curve.

I'm really seeing a right handed Allard here.

It's odd. There's a very good chance Murphy is still there at 35. Why go underslot here and overslot at 35?

Depends on what you’re trying to do. If we’re the ones with a deal made with Porter, then we let him fall to 35 and go ahead and take Murphy at 20 so you make sure you get him, too. You may end up paying them what you would have paid with those picks reversed but you ensure you get both guys you really like.

Outside of a few guys, the first three rounds are filled with guys that would be selected interchangeably based on a given snapshot of time. I was pretty bummed about the Soroka and Riley picks too. We just know so little about these prep guys.

Very good point... I hated the Soroka and Riley picks and they were fantastic
