2022 Trade Deadline

I heard a top notch "quote" reported today. They said they talked to an NL executive who said something to the affect of, "the prices are so high right now that either a few teams will majorly overpay for pieces, or there will be a lot of players staying put."

Can't make this **** up lol

Makes sense - Deadline premium is going to increase based on the supply of teams tanking and going for playoffs.

But that's the point of my "reverse Soler" comment. Drury has been smoking hot. What if he goes in the opposite direction and reverts to what he's been the past couple of seasons? I think that's the question organizations will be asking themselves as they consider the 2022 Drury to be a mirage. No one is going to get him for what it cost the Braves for Soler and Rosario.

I agree 100% with this.

Its a complete crapshoot and their history doesn't have a massive impact on the upcoming SSS.

Is anyone else concerned that Drury is having a once in a lifetime year in a glorified softball park? Not sure I'd give up a whole lot for him.

Drury is an interesting case… his BABIP isn’t really outside of career norms but statcast suggests more luck. He has a .368 wOBA vs a .317 xwOBA… looks like his HR/FB rate is about 5% higher than his career norms. Could be a signal that the park has certainly enhanced his game.

If Rosario showed us anything last year is that none of that matters.

You catch a guy hot at the right time and he can win a series for you.

If that's the case, why even make a deal at all? Who's to say that Ozuna or Arcia won't go on a 2021 Rosario/Soler streak, or that Drury, Merrifield, or whoever we acquire won't collapse once they get here?

I think you have to get more cracks at it to find the guy that 'pops' at the right time.

Someone needs to be brought in.

My gut tells me that we'll see a few moves over the next two(ish) days from Atlanta. No high-profile moves but strong moves to improve depth (including Yates' return). With the five-game Mets series this weekend, Atlanta can't afford to not play their best ball.

This is the way I'd prefer to lean. An interesting note I noticed this morning was that DMGM may be willing to part with Scott Barlow. The Royals suddenly become my #1 target if I'm Alex and that's true.

Barlow's the nasty RH arm you're looking for to add to the pen WITH closing experience - AND he's under control through 2024. Pair him with Taylor to platoon with Rosario (and be your defensive replacement/pinch-runner) for the types of expendable pieces I'm sure Alex would prefer to deal and you plug serious holes with quality depth. If he could add pieces like that for spare parts like Davidson/Elder/Shewmake/Malloy/even Franklin that would be ideal IMO.

Hopefully AA is smart enough that he isn't trying to find a guy to carry the Braves through the WS.

Hopefully AA is smart enough to understand the Braves need a guy projected to play well in LF, and target a guy projected to play well in LF.

Hopefully AA is smart enough that he doesn't just blindly grab someone and hope for the best, and then judges the move by the (heavily luck-based small sample) results.

Hopefully AA is smart enough to judge things based on the quality of the process, and then sticks to the quality process.

Hopefully AA is smarter than tehteh. I think he is, so it should be fine.

Good thing AA never traded Fried/Riley like was suggested by some poster here.

Good thing you left out all the nuance behind those trade discussions. Don't mention all the "ifs" and "maybes" folks used to qualify those comments. If you do that it won't match the fictional narrative you've built in your head. So definitely keep leaving them out...mmkay?

Sure sure - Your evaluations of these players is on the record for anyone to see.

But sure, its OTHERS that are laughably wrong.

They sure are. And they were all right.

Now go find some, post them out of context, and I'll fill in the context by adding the posts before and after them.

Hurry along dum dum, you have work to do. You can start by pulling up my analysis of Fried's stuff, and find the posts where I stated I would be hesitant to trade that type of raw stuff.

Chosen one. I am formally requesting to be traded to another board. This club house has become a high school locker room and I can’t properly make Cy mom jokes in this environment.

Thanks in advance.

So what you're saying is that you play both sides so you're always 'right' at a certain point?

I'm sure the people that see posts such as maybe Fried plus someone else is worth half of acquisition value of Odorizzi will draw their own conclusions.

Adrianza added for OF Trey Harris- Cano DFA

Why did I read this and think MH2 was hurt and we called up Adrianza.

Then I releazied my mistake and went straight to, why do we always bring the same mediocre guys back..

Then I thought.. thank god we got rid of Cano.

then I thought, but maybe he will finally get a ring.

And once again, in your head "that bike will cost around $1000" is equivalent to stating "you should go buy that bike for $1000".

You just can't rub together enough brain cells to follow simple logic. Keep working on it? Maybe do some sudoku or something?

Yeah I'm not sure this is much of an upgrade over just letting Arcia play until Albies is back. I certainly hope Adrianza doesn't find his way into the OF mix...

And if Cano can play a few games for 3-4 contenders his chances of getting a ring skyrockets!
